Anyone Else Think the Summer Coding Competition Should Have Been Started Earlier?
I think that the new QJ.net Summer Homebrew Coding Competition is great and all, but I really think it should have been started earlier. The reason I think this is because it's going to stop a lot of homebrew releases during the summer because they will be submitting their homebrews to the competition. The voting ends on September 1st. That's quite a bit late. I'm sure we'll be rewarded with a ton of homebrew then, but still, having to wait till after summer is over is kind of bad because I would rather play all the new homebrew when I'm free in the summer. I think the way to fix this problem of not getting great homebrew until September 1st would be to allow the developers to release their entries to the public after submitting them to the competition. They do this during the Neo Flash Coding Competitions, and they are still allowed to be judged even if they release their homebrew to the public. If you are already allowing devs to release their homebrew to the public once they have entered, I am sorry, but I didn't get that impression from the article, and from the slow releases lately, it doesn't seem like it. Anyway, those are my thoughts, and I hope you take into consideration the idea of allowing the devs to release their stuff when they are done and still be entered in the competition if you have not already allowed that.
