Hmm... I just got this news, and tried to find if this question was raised, but it was difficult locating it with the 3-4 threads on the same matter. The question is, is it -possible- that once this exploit comes out, there can be a exploit that will do something to enable us to run homebrew without launching up GTA every time, and simply access it from any other option, like the 'Game' menu on the Cross Media bar? I'm extremely sorry for it has been asked.
Yeah, Zero, the speculated idea will be to use this new exploit to in a way 'patch' the PSP the same way that the 'NoKxploit' program did so that you will not have to use the eLoader or run GTA everytime you want to play homebrew, it should run just like 1.0 and like 1.5 with the 'NoKxploit' patch applied. This does not mean you dont need GTA though, as you will still need it to run the 'ePatcher' program.
again this is the idea. We dont even know if it is possible because we dont know how, or if, sony patched the way the 'NoKxploit' patch works in the newer firmware.

oh yeah, there is no 'good' or 'bad' sony. I can guarentee sony would block homebrew if we just had emulators, that is expected, but I can promise you sony wouldnt be so adamant about blocking homebrew if it wasnt for ISO loaders. As far as the PS2 and Xbox goes, the piracy on those consoles wasnt as damaging as on the DC and ISO loading on the PSP. The Xbox has the be open and modded and the actual programs that run on the PSP are illegal as they were created with the XDK. This prohibits idiot users from using them. Same with the PS2, it has to be modded (you could use boot cds but they are not nearly as reliable) now look at the PSP and the DC. They are tricked into running the code without any external hacks or anything...they run the code natively so any idiot user can download the ISO loaders off of any website and play it. ok -- enough with ISO loaders.
That's not at all what I'm talking about. I'm talking about actually running the update. From everything I've read and heard, the IPL from 1.50 will not load on a PSP that has been flashed with 2.50 or above. The boot process changed, and the IPL is decrypted/loaded/executed differently. Therefore, a 1.50 IPL won't work.Zitat:

hmm maybe do MOD something like Epsilon Bios in IPL but with 2.60. How to do that in full Kernel when "new" Eloader is turned on...

you do still have to use the GTA exploit to run this new exploit. What the biggest buzz is all about is now that we have kernel access we can use this to effectively 'patch' the psp similar to how the 'NoKXploit' program did to make the Eboots run from the XMB like they do for FW1.0 and FW1.5.
GTA is still require though to apply this patch.
edit-- oh yeah, if your looking at getting GTA get a used copy, the newer ones have been patched so the GTA exploit does not work.

That Epsilon BIOS does look too good to be true, only time will tell with it. The video they release was pretty convicing, but then again so were so other videos that were proven to be faked.

Beside the 2.60 hacking option is possible, there is also the option of flashing non-retail IPLs/firmwares on a retail psp.
non-retail IPLs and Firmwares being custom firmwares. Now here is a question -- how are we going to be able to write a LEGAL custom firmware?
so what i understand from the last posts is that 2.50 and 2.60 can be downgraded...right? but its too much difficult
just a thought but to all the people saying it would be stupid to risk bricking your psp by changing the IPL...
once a new devhook comes out for 2.6 cant devs just use that to test changing the IPL?

non-retail firmwares/IPLs are not necessarly costum firmwares, I was more thinking of SCE's testingtool/devkit firmwares which contains a legit IPL and can run decrypted elfs/prxsZitat:

He dumped it thanks to psppet works..... Beside he did not decrypt the whole thing, and finally his firmware loader does not use the IPL at all or fetures NAND emulation either....

Look, you said that there would never be a downgrader for 2.0. Look how THAT theory worked out! We got kernel mode on 2.5 and 2.6 for god's sake! If we can do that you then who know what else we could do. People need to stop being so negative. If kernel mode can be reached then a downgrader does not seem impossible. So everyone stop saying there wil be no downgrader. It could and very probably will happen.
let's first focus on getting kernal functionality up already :P we don't really need a downgrader if you can load it up once until u hard-shutdown! (which is the plan)
I really wish people would stop asking for a downgrader because there would be no need for one if we have full kernel access which means you would be able to have just as much homebrew as 1.5 just more features. So there would be no point in risking bricking your psp.
I don't see why people are looking at downgrading if 2.5/2.6 has full kernal access just like 1.5... a "NoKXploit" patch for 2.5/2.6 should be what is being researched, from what I can see, 2.5/2.6 is going to become the new 1.5 for some people, as full kernal is what kept people wanting 1.5, that and launching homebrew from the XMB. I give it a week or so before the eLoader either has full kernal support for 2.5/2.6 or a new "NoKXploit" is released, either way this is a great time for the PSP community.

People asking for a downgrade simply want to have a 1.5 PSP that supports everything now. Without having to launch GTA every now and then. I highly doubt that installing NOKXPLOIT in the flash would be easier then making a downgrader. Nicer yes, but not easier.

I sold my GTA, so it definently wont be too interesting for me... I will stick with 1.5...
For all Peaple having GTA - Yeah, you dont need a downgrader... For Peaple who dont have GTA... well - A downgrader would be very nifty...
Anyway, Im still happy with all the News bout Kernel... it made my 2.6 Friends very happy... They are all waiting for it as we speak / read ^^'
For having a static Patch, so we always could run homebrew without gta... we would need to alter the FW.. which, of course is very risky... and most probably would end with a brick...
