NO it was found in 2.5 it was made by the security fix in 2.5 which ended up making an overflow for kernel access, therefore there is no overflow in 2.01...but there is another exploit to be found in 2.01...which is why there was a security fix in 2.5

For having a static Patch, so we always could run homebrew without gta... we would need to alter the FW.. which, of course is very risky... and most probably would end with a brick...

It would almost be like GTA except for the GTA part, which isn't pretty bad at all. If that NONKXPLOIT method works, its even better. I never reboot my PSP at all.

hm...ur right man but the problem is too find it i hope so that someone can find it...coz if there is an full kernel acess in 2.01, dg is easy to do

WELL the exploit, if we ever find it, might not even have kernel it might have flash0 partially which would be good for DG but people dont ant to work on 2.01 everyone is too concentrated on 2.6...im happy for all of you, i have 1.5 though.

Yes, of course they would. If they pull this off properly, everything that works on 1.50 will work... apart from the version changers.

it has been said version changs may work if we can get full control over the the ram, but this wont help with a DG for 2.5+ cuz it will mess with the IPL codes and result in a brick.

Awesome. But I think this thread should be renamed to something else or something. Cause we already know what's going on and what has been found. Right now we're just discussing about it.

Don't try this exploit just yet. It still isn't finalized and ready to go. It's just a proof of concept, so it doesn't do much as of now.

Just wait until something official comes out.

If I hadnt bought one... I definently would have sticked to this GTA-Kernel Loader.... :D

About the GTA-UMD... well - I wouldnt mind really, even If i had to use it... Afterall I always have a UMD in my PSP... for ISO-Launching... :D

So, why should I mind if that UMD was GTA?

The only Problem I would have with it is that I sold my GTA, so - I would have to buy a used one on ebay... :P

Yes this IS an exploit for homebrew. But it's not finished yet. They need to fix it up a bit, and from this exploit you can do anything basically

The files they have up are nothing much to us regular users though....

That's just to show it in progress and show it does reach Kernel.

Fanjita is hard at work on this ;) So for now just be patient :)

We have no idea of the limitations right now, they will be reveled as time goes by.

We cannot decrypt the IPL and change the version so a "upgrade" to 1.5 would work, There won't be a downgrader until this happens.

and why hasnt someone found homebrew in Wipeout? it seems that the d/l content is somewhat like an eboot, but i guess ud have to figure out how to make ur own levels, that would be cool too tho, to make ur own wipeout tracks.

2.01 is the last version to have the firmware stuff stored in a location u can get to, beyond that they moved it so u can't touch it :)
