Because you will still need GTA to run i everything

yeah I would update the 2.01 to 2.60 so I can have the use of all homebrew but i'm still putting the mod chip in and running 2.71 from it so I get the best of both worlds

Well, according to homer, you would only need to run GTA one time to patch it, then from then on you could run homebrew formt he XMB. If that's the case then I would upgrade in a heartbeat.

I'm staying with 1.5 forever. I don't need any of the features when i can emulate pretty much all of them with devhook. Anyway, I'm still waiting for Eclispe webbrowser because sony's sucks ass as it is. So I will be staying with 1.5 for a long time. I would just buy another psp if there really was a need to have a higher firmware.

Devhook should be able to emulate the 2.71 firmware on 1.5.. if you didn't know, 2.6 & 2.71 share the same decrypt keys ..

Whats the point of staying at 1.5, if you could supposedly run everything from the 2.6 XMB without GTA after doing it once

If I can run ALL homebrew from XMB, yes.
If I can still run ISO's, yes.
If the firmware gets cracked and can be emulated through Devhook, hell no!

So I'm gonnna wait a month or until I find out weither it can be emulated or not, if it can than I'll always be on 1.5

infact, I change my mind, the firmware will be cracked and it will run on devhook. no point for 1.5's. Absolutlely awesome for 2.6 though. Really pleased for everyone out there above 2.00. I knew you guys would get a break!

I don't usually use 1.5 to play ISOs, but having the ability to do so is nice and I wouldn't want to loose it.

If it can do everything 1.5 can, I'll think about it... I'm talking about ISOs, firmware emulating, XMB, and even better if it had no curropt icons.

Whats the point? 1.5 does EVERYTHING i want it to, plays any game i want it 2, and 2.6/2.7 will be emulated on it soon, so whats the point?

I agree with this, but not all the way.
I do agree with the ALL hb from XMB and ISO's, but the devhook no. It would be annoying to start up devhook everytime to get 2.6, (you keep it as long as you dont hard reboot it) but why would you want that when you get 2.6, with all the features from 2.6, and 1.5? I see no sense in keeping 1.5, when 2.6 has all the features of 2.6, AND 1.5...I would upgrade if the first two are true.
EDIT: And about version change: Who really cares if your fw is 6.66 or 13.37? It is just for show and it really doesn't do anything.

If DevHook can emulate decrypted 2.71, I don't see the point in upgrading.

Yeah, kernel mode includes flash0 access.

Yes, I believe we will be able to do anything 1.5 can. Time to load up on some apps, like Devhook (ISOs

), X-Flash, and PSIX.

You got a point, and you're right. Hope this is true that you wont need to load GTA up, if so than it would suck. And could it load normal eboots not KXploit ones?

Also, some homebrew like ISO loaders (won't name any) has to use different code to work with different versions so what if some can't be re-coded into 2.6?
