I was able to downgrade mine from factory 2.5. i had upgraded to 2.6 though. :p

I have a white psp that came with 2.5 firmware

it has no text on the PCB, so I don't think its a t802 mobo


is this downgrader safe for my white japanese psp, or do i need to do something special ?

i hade a psp 2.5 and swapped it for a 1.5 had it for a day it kept crashing during games so i swapped it back for my 2.5 then updated it to 2.6

this psp has no text on the inside of my umd tray but it was a 2.5 when i bought it brand new

is this safe?

i got text under battery "model psp-1003"

I don't want to sound like an ******* toward you or anything but I'll have to make sure I'm not getting any random files that'll brick my PSP.

So let me ask...how realiable is Birdman around this forum? I'm new so I can't really tell who is what and what is who.

Again, I have nothing against you. I just want to see if I'm starting off on the right foot here and I need to know if I could trust you.

i dont think it is. i dont really know a whole lotta hoo-ha about this but im pretty sure i read you cant start with 2.5 or 2.6, if you have 2.5 or 2.6 it has to have been upgraded :)

I'm going to go out on a limb and trust Birdman and see if I could downgrade back to 1.5. The readme file sounds legit enough.

I downgraded, but now my background has some 3D symbol and it says aphex twin in the top right corner. why is this?

I only have one PSP and I cannot afford to go out and buy another one. I'm going to try it now since I have the original 1.51 version.

I asume you got the same 1.5 dump as I got. So what I was told was that the person who gave me the dump had used flashmod or some othe program to change his background. So I downloaded flashmod and used it to put the settings back to default.

plug your psp in to the ac outlet, one guy downgraded his psp with 4% battery left LOL

I had a 1.5 upgraded to 2.0, then 2.6, then back to 1.5...

There have been two confirmed Bricks with this so far. One wouldnt stop blinking and the other refuses to turn on.

Ok, I have found a way to make the 1.5 more stable after you have successfully downgraded from 2.6/2.5. After the PSP reboots its ok if you get the corrupted settings screen, just press circle, and then when it says UMD not readable thats ok too, just restart your PSP(may need to multiple times). But since you used the GTA UMD to downgrade you also have the 2.0 upgrade right there on the CD, so upgrade and then downgrade again with MPH so u'll have a clean copy of firmware 1.5 instead of a dump from someone elses dirty PSP :P.

I have tested this myself and it leaves 1.5 far less buggy and glitchy

Hey, birdman do I dump these files into the PSP folder. I have two folders at the top level

PSP and UTILS and then a couple of other bin files and IND files.

Awesome. I'm going to try that too. WOW, that MPH one was quite a riot for me. I was scared to death a couple months ago when I was attempting to go from 2.0 back to 1.5

Not bricks, these are explainable:

if it keeps blinking you have used a 32MB memory card that has overfilled and cant hold any more data as the downgrading process writes ALOT of logs that take up at least 16MB from what we've found so far

the one that refuses to turn on has a dead battery, or a bricked battery, which is fixable, by a new battery or a charger

I recieved my dump link from, which I don't quite remember his name exactly, 'freeplay' or 'fourplay' I'm not sure. He was the one giving the link in IRC.

But its easy to fix. Just download Flashmod, boot it up, and reset the settings.

BTW: Could anyone link me to a devhook install guide. I know there is one on this forum but it didnt quite correspond with the version number I had so i'm wondering if it would be okay to still use that one or if theres on for 41d?

the downgrader simply over writes the 2.6 firmware files but what dark_alex and everyone forgot was that 2.6 has extra firmware files,

so when you downgrade you still have fragements of 2.6 firmware on your psp.

Isnt this downgrader suposed to re-format the NAND?

Cant be. This does re-format the NAND so you would start off with without any 2.60 files anyway.

the old versions that bricked were doing that, this one doesnt, because when you reformat for some reason you cant use the system calls from a emtpy NAND :p

You put the DOWNDATER folder in the root of your memory stick.
