Is X-flash Safer then Themepsp?
X-Flash is THE safest flashing app out there. ThemePSP isn't neccessarily dangerous, but you have to check the files yourself to make sure they are valid.Zitat:

Heh, second scariest thing that has ever happened to me.
Yesterday- I was messing around with DevHook, and got some wireless errors, and was told that the way to fix this was to restore default settings. I restored default settings, and it started blue looping. Oh god, it scared me to death.
I pulled the memory stick out, and it was fine. Strange, huh?
I investigated:
restoring default settings clears the flash1, and then restores it. Because I was restoring default settings on a DevHook'd firmware that redirects flash access to the memory stick, it DELETED my flash1 folder, and for some reason couldn't restore it like a real flash- based PSP.
(Sorry to go off topic. Just had to post this.)
Just bricked mine using the marvel theme on firmware 1.5. Everytime I try to load homebrew or anthinng i get a redscreen with the psp logo. Freaking sucks balls, but that what i get for not reading everything and installing custom firmware.
I'm just going to sum this up,
IF YOU DON'T HAVE A CUSTOM FIRMWARE WITH RECOVERY MODE INSTALLED, YOU ARENT INTELLIGENT ENOUGH TO USE THIS PROGRAM
Please read the above statement to prevent further brickings.
ah men
K. I think that I have a pre-bricked PSP. Please take the time to read my long post.
My firmware record: 1.50 > 1.52 > 2.00 > 2.50 > 2.70 > 2.71 > 1.50 > 2.71 seb > 1.50 > 2.71 sec ( 2.71 se-c is my current firmware).
This was the first time I tried to use themepsp. Now, this is what has happened. I installed themepsp 1.1, Opened that app from the default xmb under the game folder. I read the options in the apps main screen. Pressed L and R trigger buttons to change the theme installation folder (I didn't know it made a difference, I thought the program would warn me if the folder settings would brick my PSP). On the theme list I when down to "pimp my PSP" and pressed X. The app started to install the new theme and it showed 100% complete. The next thing that happened (not sure) was either, the screen went black and hanged, or my PSP rebooted. Which ever one of the previous happened, this is what happened next. I had a UMD in the PSP. On startup the PSP showed the "sony computer entertainment" screen, then it went to the UMD game I had inserted in my PSP. I tried to go to the xmb (not knowing anything had gone wrong yet). It showed the "please wait" screen and lasted the normal time, the screen then went black and hanged. I Rebooted without the UMD and the "sony computer entertainment" screen then tried to go to the xmb.
In more detail: Flicked on the on switch, "sony computer entertainment" screen appeared with the "pimp my ride" music, then the PSP did that thing where the wavy bars show for a second and fly off the screen (as if a UMD or the xmb is starting), then the psp's screen turns completely white (with no music), and in the top right corner the battery indicator is still their but it is a very pale grey (you can only see it if you tilt the screen).
These are the things that I have tried. I've tried to boot my PSP without the memory card and that didn't change a thing. I've tried to eject the UMD when is was in the middle of the game, It asked me if I wanted to exit the game, I clicked yes and the psp hangs with the same black screen.
Since the PSP wont boot to the xmb, I can't connecting to my computer through the PSP (USB), I suppose I could buy a memory card reader and access the memory card that way. Since I am on the custom firmware 2.71 sec , I can get to the recovery menu. I just don't know what to do from their. I think, "opening_plugin.rco is corrupted the PSP acts like a brick and turns on the screen and shows nothing then shuts off;" Thank you phyrehazurd for that information.
The only thing that I think of that might fix the problem, would be to update my PSP through the recovery console, but I'm not sure how to do that.
I hope that I did a good job of describing my problem, and I hope someone out their can help me fix my problem. Thanks in advance.
ThemePSP isn't compatible with 2.71. Please learn to do your research before flashing things to your PSP.

Go through the uninstallation procedure documented in that thread.
Also, this thread doesn't really apply anymore since bricking pretty much does nothing. Closed.
