Default PVNC wirless connection dilemma

this is kinda worthless the way i read it, it says get the primary and secondary dns which can only be gotten by conecting to the routers web page thus making this whole idea stupid casue u cant just walk into a public place and jump on there wireless with ur psp unless u have a wireless laptop to detect that and get the dns which defeats the purpose so unless i misunderstood this some how and if i did plz correct me cause i want this to work

you ever thought of asking someone what the dns is??? if you were taking your PSP there, you'd probably have to ask for the IP anyway.. if you knew heaps about networking, you'd realise most routers just use the network IP of the router as a DNS.... eg. most linksys routers have an IP of 192.168.1.1 and if you use that as a DNS it will work.... and then you wouldn't have to ask anyone else...

seems networking isnt over my head.... would have made my last job as a network admin at a large company a bit difficult.

you'd have to have a static IP on your laptop (the one running VNC) and direct your PVNC connection to that thru their network. so you cant use dhcp on your laptop to connect to their network, which, in most cases, the only way you can connect to a public wi-fi network

You folks are making it much too hard on the kid.

Look, all you need to do is let the PSP do its autoconfigure via DHCP. Once it gets the configuration done and is able to get on the wireless, go back to the network settings, and VIEW the details. It should tell you all the connection settings it came up with.

Just write all the numbers down, then reconfigure it as static.

Of course, this won't help you anyway, since nearly every public place has firewalls which keep you from using VNC on it, plus most of them are too slow for VNC.
