In addition to allowing custom firmwares to be run so that future upgrades are unneccesary, I know that there is a speed boost for homebrew running on 1.0 PSPs.

I know that that 1.0 gives devs access to a lot more Ram, so would things like the N64 emu and GBA emu run faster or would they have to be coded to take advantage of it.

So will devs start releasing programs for both firmwares like they used to. Especially programs like Devhook, IRShell and PSPRadio.

Remember back when they used to have seperate releases for 1.0 users and 1.5 users?

There is no speed boost.

Homebrew on 1.0 does load faster but it doesn't run faster.

Most good applications on 1.5 can't run on 1.0 (DevHook).

Is there a technical reason? Or is it just because it wasn't coded for 1.00?

all the emulators and games and most applications (pspradio File Assiastant) run on 1.0

so... unless Devhook and ISO loaders are the only good applications, your wrong.

jsut that Devhook right now is one of the most popular programs so until BOOSTER makes it for 1.0 most will stay on 1.5

that pretty much is the technical reason, dev'ers just need to re-code ISO launchers to work on 1.00 beacuse of differnet call functions

most homebrew apps are released with a 1.0 eboot, because the eloader uses 1.0 eboots

no, it's because there was 1.00 psp from the beggining and that it allows kernel mode, some people had 1.00 before the downdater came out and were happy to use homebrews on those, beside the 1.00 eboots are the "legit" format (legit in pspsdk terms tough lol).

You cannot run custom firmware. FreePlay said that the modules need to be encrypted to be launched from flash0 or flash1.

zx's GBA emu would run faster on 1.00 since it has more ram. I know alot of programs like devhook, and other programs that don't work on 1.00, will soon.

Damn straight, cant wait for that day to happen. Once all homebrew works, what reason would there be in staying at 1.5?

1.00 also loads eboots faster, 1.5 takes 7 seconds and 1.00 takes 2 seconds. I can't wait also to all hb runs on 1.00.

The only downside of 1.00 is that all hb doesn't run on it right now.
There are probably some other downsides. =/

I only see one other downside. SOMETIMES, the icons, like homebrew icons, go retarded. Its kinda funny, but some people might think its annoying.

I've never had a problem with the homebrew icons on 1.00. It's great that the international PSP hacking scene starts developing for 1.00. It IS annoying that people claim that 1.00 is inferior to 1.50 just because of the ISO Loaders being mostly incompatible. I'd like to see equality for both firmwares.

why would you possibly stick with 1.5 once a couple more programs like devhook and izo loader are made 1.0 compatible.

even sticking with 2.5 makes sense since you atleast get an official browser. but what does 1.5 offer that 1.0 doesnt.

with 1.0, you get faster homebrew, and will likely end up with far more playable gba and n64 emulators to boot.

so why would any one stick with 1.5 in a month or two.

Once DevHook works for 1.0 and there's a program to alter the flash that swaps the O and X buttons back to normal, I'm downgrading to 1.0 and staying.

Well I have always wanted to try 1.00 if all homebrew becomes compatible I probly still won't downgrade just because the 2.50/2.60 downgrader hase somewhere like 95.00% or higher chance of sucsess the 1.50 to 1.00 downgrader has a 85% chance sucsess and a 15% chance fail so unless it gets updated to have a better % I won't downgrade but thats just me.

I dont trust success rates. The failed ones, are likely due to errors on the end users behalf.

What about the epsilon bios?

Couldn't you use devhook to run custom firmware?

Is there ANYWAY to swap the buttons? Because the thought of X and O being swapped permanantly is making me shy away from the downgrader.
