Get PSPMenuEdit, it's SO easy!

There are limits on how long you replace it with is, though. It can't exceed the original length of text.

I am having the same problem... I have edited my 2.5 menu, but can't make anything out of the 2.6 'topmenu_plugin.rco' or the 'sysconf_plugin.rco'... I think they changed the encryption of somekind...

and the EDITPSPmenu.exe only works for 1.5, and not for 2.xx

just grab a decent hex editor and search for the text strings yourself, (search for both ascii and unicode strings).
don't do anything more than byte for byte edits, changing the file length will break it, as well editing too much of a string.
Pad using 00's.

Should be good to go if you stick to that.

The problem we are having lies in the 2.6 topmenu_plugin.rco the menu names seem to be encrypted ive searched the file many times with no result. Ive even gone through the whole thing slowly.

Im going to start looking in the other .rco files to see if they contain the menu names.

They have either been moved or Sony has encrypted them.

Its weird if it's encripted.. Why would Sony want to encript the menu hex?

I was thinking the same thing, seems like an absolute waste of time.

So maybe they have moved the definitions to somewhere else to increase efficiency perhaps.

i will document the entire menu system... tonight, and post it here, don't have anything better to do right now.

Will be for firmware version 2.60

[edit] or not, seems the rco's ARE infact scrambled/encrypted/compressed.

yes, it like we said. I have experience in changing the menu for 2.5, so i know what im doing.. but somehow they compressed / encrypted the menu..., weird thing is though... some network plugins DO have text in them... it's not very usefull text, just something sqying your connection failed etc....
