Custom Firmware - The proof of concept

It'll reflash your recovery.elf to include my 'restore back to 1.5 firmware option'.

i would like to keep the 1.0 eboot form but if it will be weeks/mopnths before a shell comes out that has support for 1.0 eboots,i might have to convert them back or jsu redownload

:) lol, its pretty useful as I dont have to have another eboot in my game list. Plus its not taking up space on my memory stick.

I dont know why everyone is converting to 1.0 eboots, when if you just hide the corrupted data icons, it works the same, and saves time.

Nothing it will just overwrite the custom files and you will go back to a normal firmware.

I was about to make this post as well Freeplay. I just got online and read this thread from the beginning. (Which by the way, there were about 150 posts added from the time I started.)

Just be happy this patch is working and safe people and remain on topic.

what's the point of that exactly? That's like making your psp not bieng able to launch homebrew on a 1.5 - oh wait, that's what your doing

The only thing I can think is: If you know how to block homebrew, you'll know how to unblock it.

If I were to guess, FreePlay was just trying to see if he could. He does a lot of stuff for no reason :P.

well its pointless in the sense of making 1.5 unable to run homebrew.

But if we knew what file(s) caused our eboots to not run, then we could replicate this in a dump for devhook emulation

Then if this dump actualy worked, we could upgrade our psp's to a custom 2.7 or whatnot firmware using a prog simalar to the 2.6 dd and then well....... oomg awesomeness.

ok i have finished now i have all 1.5 eboots exept the "untinkerable" eboots like the custom firmware app.btw even if its ok to delete that eboot and those files,you cant convince me.ive bricked to many psp's

this is funny because in my pms with freeplay he is just negative about being wrong.he never says anything about being a classic anti-hero.besides,in the pms he says it sholdnt work.

the config file would be deleted, and would it freeze or reboot or what?

- Did anyone try the recovery mode with the index.dat flashing? (i know it works with updating to 2.6)
how does it work?
* you first flash your index.dat, then it goes back to the menu and you run 1.5 eboot? or
* do you flash index.dat , reboot,run 1.5 eboot?

basically if the config file isnt found,then its as if you had never done anything with your psp.i beleive it finds it,loads it,and when something that needs security hacks,it loads the normal unhacked version of vshmain,which is really the only thing modded,but still there kinda.also basically recovery mode is you connect your psp to comp,load up the 1.0 index.dat and flash that so you psp says its a 1.0,then load,while in recovery mode,the 1.5 update to reflash the psp.its all very simple to me.
