The registry verified that the files in the flash0 are original.

This is probably wrong, but for some reason I remeber someone saying that.

So, if we edit some of those "MD5s" (yes, I know they are not MD5, but I don't know what to call them) couldn't we load a custom PRX?

Completely wrong, actually....

1. The registry does nothing with flash0 apart from tell the PSP where the fonts are.
2. They're SHA1s, not MD5s :p
3. The firmware is encrypted, not signed. You have to re-encrypt a modified PRX, not reapply an MD5.

Yes but as math said you could clear the firmware data the was loaded into ram and in theroy have a "Custom firmware".

Couldn't we just use the PSP to encrypt PRXs, like how we use it decrypt them?

hmm, no one answered this Q, does anyone know which prx's can we load from the 2.71 firmware (devhook) so that we can play 2.+ games directly on our 1.5? or is it not possible?

The PSP wouldn't need to encrypt them so it wouldn't naturaly have the ability.

Ive written a bad gameboot file so could this help me then?

I don't think you can upload any higher firmware prx right now. Their is another thred were they have been trying to get any other prx loaded from higher firmwares. All they got was a black screen.

I believe we cannot.

This is because 2.0+ uses a different method of encryption in the firmware for loading games, modules, etc.

The 1.5 firmware could not decrypt 2.0+ modules...

Idea == Devhook being like a bootloader (have all your firmwares right there so you can choise which one to boot (It clears the ram so its optimal and its stable).

I heard a lot about 1.00 eboots starting up faster than 1.50 kxploited ones. From what I can tell from using the custom firmwares 1.00 eboot feature, this is not the case! Unless the speedier start up only occurs on a 1.00 proper?

The faster startup is only on 1.0 FW. And still, it's not a "OMG THAT'S FAST" improvement....it's 1 or 2 seconds faster, that's all.

Also, the recovery side is just what i've been waiting for - For some reason skylarks fonthack app allways BSOD's me - so I have to flash the font to my PSP to use it for some reason - I just never did incase it didn't working and I partially bricked my PSP - But now I can just repair my PSP by launching the 1.00 downgrader!

Now I have the halo font on like a charm :D

does anyone remember the gamesharx custom firmware, the 1.5 with added support of some media files? do u think we can take those prx's and load them? or that too is not possible?

That firmware did nothing. He added a PRX and it did NOTHING.

IRshell allows you to view images - check it out and see if it works

PSP unpacker for windows will unpack it....

I really don't mean to rain on your parade, but you can put as many modules as u want into your flash, but you have to have the PSP load them to do any good.

Those shells all load the PRXs usign one method or another, so unless you can get the PSP to load those modules...

It's no different than if the modules weren't even there.

You can load them in the config file, like screenshotbmp.prx. You never know...?

am i the only one who thinks that when running an irshell the psp slows down a bit?

this things amazing, cant wait till alot of stuff comes out like 2.00+ UMD support, web browser, and alot of other stuff.

It will NOT work. I cannot use a decrypted .prx OR since I am loadin a .prx that has already been loaded, it doesnt work. What happens is, my PSP turns on, I see the memory stick flashing, the the Memory Stick light stays on, and the PSP XMB doesnt load. The only way to make it work, it to make another photo_plugin.prx, and keep the original a different filename. Because this wont work.

All you people complaining whether it's a custom firmware or not, does it really matter? Personally I class it as a custom firmware as it is something not an official one.

All that are saying it is not possible to get homebrew and 2.71 features in a later custom firmware, I think that the chance of this never happening is remote. With the modchip, people will be able to throw loads of test firmwares at it and will find a way, plus the amazing ideas of every developer that work to help further the homebrew ability of all PSPs will always turn up something that will do what is wanted (eg Fanjita, Dark_Alex, Math etc)

Can't wait for one that has the extra features, that will make it worthy of loading. I would have done this, but forced to tidy :(

True. It will be great. This is my dream firmware:

2.71+ features
ISO loading straight form XMB
1.00 eboot launching
ISO dumping from XMB
All different codecs for music and video

Thats it for now....

heh i dont know if we will be able to do all that just yet. just remember that the psp has alot of checks in place.

I know, but eventualy we will be able to. I know it. I et withen 6 month Dark_Alex will release a firmware maker, where you just download the program, check off the options for stuff you want, click "build firmware" and then just flash it on your PSP.
