123 posts - nice for you nutterbutter
Hi guys i made a small addon which is intended for my new mod (coming soon), its called SAFE MODE (restores whatever you need restoring etc..).
Anyway i'm going to use safe mode AND recovery.elf
this way i'm twice as safe plus it helps me move development on my new mod.
I thought i may aswell release safe mode now (Even though its only intended for my new mod which is coming soon).
I Gotta go, i'm looking forward to some updates tomorrow :) !
well in theory there are several ways to 'unbrick' your psp if you did something wrong with Xflash, pspset...
1) just go into recovery mode and usb the config to autoload the Flashing program... it schould then on bootup load the flashing prog (or does it need all the stuff like font / gameboot / bootsound etc whatever you can custimize?) then you can reflash it...
2) in stead of a update eboot, you could place an xflash eboot (and all the belongings of that prog) or something like that in the UPDATE folder i think, and it schould load the prog in stead of an update
3) you could upgradze / downgrade
4) you could spoof 1.00 by index.dat and upgrade to 1.5
METHOD 1 & 2 are just idea's that COULD work, dunno if it actually works :)
psp's are becoming more and more like computers...now we have safe mode and everything
Could someone explain what the safe mode is ? Is it simular to recovery mode ?
Very nice, whats the point of SAFE MODE? Does it need critical .prxs to load it? Sorry if im sounding n00bish. Imma see if i can implement this into Lord Sturms POC, if you dont mind, if i get it working, ill post it here.Zitat:

SAFE MODE is an easier way to restore your PSP if you bricked it using PSPSET, etc. Very nice! Its actually cool, that way you dont have to reflash your entire PSP!

c5cha7, does it also flash all the fonts, etc.?
by defalt the psp runs at 333 when its in wifiZitat:

Yet, another reason we WON'T need the UP modchip...
UP says u can run un-kxploited PBP, now we can too :D
you schould not need to reflash the whole PSP... look at my methods 1 & 2 just a few posts above, they schould work... haven't tried it though, because haven't bricked my psp yet :pZitat:

Yeah, but how about if you screw up a .prx, X-FLASH wouldnt be able to help ya there... :p
And what would ??? safe mode ?Zitat:

hey, i was wondering how i could reflash the custom firmware module because i tried slashers unflasher and i need the AC adaptor plugged in but my psp doesnt charge with the ac adaptor because it doesnt know when its plugged in, any help would be appreciated
c5cha7, do you have any time to try flashing in the addon prxs and a function to flash in the config as well with a hex-edited vshmain.prx that will read it from the flash instead. I am really looking forward to a memory stick independent version.
Another question? If I use SeiPSP to hid my corrupted icons, can I use that directory to load devhook with the new mods? ex. "ms0:\PSP\GAME\devhoo k 1\EBOOT.PBP"
EDIT : sorry wrong thread
Can Someone Answer This :
So If I Brick my Psp And I Have This Installed I Hold R trigger it Will Load That Recovery Thing And I Can Drag Over A 2.00 Update And Update Then Downgrade Back ? Then Its unbricked?
Edit : Also Is There A Way So it Boots To My 1.5 Firmware And If I Hold L Trigger it Boots Devhook
Yes to both. Use harleyg's custom firmware to get devhook to boot with L trigger,Zitat:

Does it load 2.71 XMB directly?Zitat:

is it possible to somehow let devhook load the 2.71 xmb without starting the umd/iso?
Pop the UMD out, just like in the real firmware....
so how do you pop out the iso? (*sigh*)
the question was not to pop out the umd, but if it is possible to start devhook without auto-umd-start. this was (afaik) possible in the older devhooks with mods.
Simply put on a parental block - so it will ask you for a pin upon startup - then just press O to go to xmb - voilla - it didn't boot up the umd/iso
could anyone answer my question?Zitat:

okay dark alex i found a error after using this program i couldnt delete copy or cut stuff already on the memroy stick in usb mode so i had to format my stick since it started gettign all werid. btw i ahve a 1.5 psp thats been upgrade to 2.00 and downgrade adn then downgrade to 1.00. jus tto let u no
okay so there is a straight to xbm mod for devhook available at a nfo site ;)
It works great ! it`s an iso that has a firmware check for 2.72 so it can be started ,so you will just start the xbm only without parental level or umd removal
Could I get some help-
two questions-
I don't want to execute any homebrew at startup. Should I delete the two examples?
Should I erase the "PSP Link" stuff in that load prx line?
*Confused*
Just leave it commented.
ok, after searching through this thread, i downloaded a few diffrent files, and got it to work with lordstrums unflasher, worked great. then tried out harleyg's custom firmware mod with dual boot support, works like a charm. thnx Dark_AleX, u rock (even tho i think u work/used to work for sony)
The hash at the start of some lines makes the program ignore those lines,
so you could leave them there if you ever want to use a shell, etc.
Leave it alone? Won't it start my iR Shell or DevHook on startup? I don't want it to do that.Zitat:

I love X-Flash!
Commented as in this: #autoload = "mso:/PSP/GAME/IRSHELL/EBOOT.PBP
The '#' infront of it will make it a comment, thus not autoloading the homebrew. You get it now?
Okay... so if I get one of HarleyG's mods, I would put it in one of those lines, and delete the hash symbol?
great job alex! i just tried it and it worked , if you get a chance to read this i'd like to know what your plans are for this and also im wondering if it would be possible for you to make the recovery mode a standalone kind of thing were it realy isnt a custom firmware , that would be great for people who dont want to use the custom firmware but still want to be able to unbrick there PSP
NOT POSSIBLE. Why, you may ask. Because, to load it up, you gotta press a button. In order for that button to be recognized, it has to be coded in the firmware. In order for that to happen, we must decrypt vshmain.prx (we can do this already.), edit it, then re-encrypt it (we CANNOT do this), then put it back in the firmware. Which is currently not possible.Zitat:

ok , got it.. didnt think.
Heheheh, thats why i am here to think for you. :pZitat:

I can't get it to "dual-load" firmwares with Harleyg's mod... :(
Which mod of this is the best. I've seen a lot posted, I was ready to load LordSturm's mod, and then I see harleyg's on the front page. which one is the best?
i read somewhere that the harlyg's mod bricks is that true but i was just thinking about useing the first one causethat one is confirmed not to brick right??
Help! I think I did somethink stupid!
I had the costom FW installed and changed to harleygs mod.
When I installed I got a message. "VHSmain does match."
It autoboots in FW 2.71. If I don't select to start with IRSHELL or something else... but it is impossiblke to get back to XMB 1.5
