sorry if this is in the wrong forum (still new here), but i have some news. I have been working on a 1.5 downgrader for 2.71, and have made progress!

When I launch my eboot (its a modified version of 1.50 firmware eboot), it launches and shows the psp logo screen. It then reads the memory stick for a few seconds and then shows up saying "file corrupted". The thing is though, that if you look closely, under the message you can see the startup screen for the update (where it says "PSP Firmware Update: [Start]").

Here is my eboot, remember it DOES NOT work yet, but it actually goes into kernel mode and then shows an error message saying "file corrupted" (unlike previous loads on 2.71 where it didnt even go into kernel mode and shows a similar message stating "Game could not be started"). If the error screen was removed somehow (working on it) then, in theory, you would have a 2.71>1.50 downgrader...

Put the eboot in ...PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder

Old, I can do that also. Wont work just like that, since once you edit it, it is no longer signed.

How many times do people have to post this crap, THERE IS NO WAY TO USE A SONY UPDATER TO DOWNGRADE A PSP, THERE ARE 5 BILLION SECURITY CHECKS, IT WILL NEVER WORK!

just because im not yoshihiro or fanjita, doesnt mean i cant make a downgrader, Ive had education in programming, and there is no rule saying "IF YOU ARE NOT THIS PERSON YOU CANNOT MAKE DOWNGRADERS".

It's not going to work, kiddo. You can't make a downgrader by hex editing an update EBOOT. End of story.

Actually, an exploit is needed more than D_A specifically.

Exactly, you can't just up and run a EBOOT, they HAVE to be signed. It's like trying to break into a safe with your bare hands and NO combination...

You havent provided us with any info about an exploit. You have simply told us about an old exploit that will not work.

I don't understand why everyone jumps tries to crap on his parade. If he is going down the wrong road let him. Maybe something else will come of it. I don't understand why one person brings up an idea or theory or whatever you want to call it and 50 people have to run him in to the ground. It only takes one post to say that has been tried, didn't work, where to next... Like TOs first reply. It was good enough.

I am new here, and possibly out of line, but I just don't see the need for the verbal bashing people get here. That is why they leave.

I agree. The flaming here has got to stop. Give a serious helpful answer or dont reply. People need to grow up(maturity wise at least) and stop flaming on an online forum, trying to act all cool and tough. I think many of you need to read the PSPositive posting guidelines.

What makes you honestly think you will have a finished working exploit soon? Everything, you have said so far has been proven that it will not work.
