Default Q: Kernel Loader

Has anyone heard from the dubbed "Kernel Loader" recently?

Last I heard from the dev's, they (Fanjita, Ditlew, and/or hitchhikr) ran into a few walls that prevented them from progressing [quicker] toward their goal of a KXploit-like homebrew access, instead of the traditional 'eLoader' feel.

Not much info has been released, but I gathered the following:

- Limited kernel apps (?)
- KXploit implementation

Anyone know of anything new?
Maybe I was misinformed about something.

It would be cool to get a few insights on this project, and if any progress has been made since I've last heard of it... which was some time ago

QJ.net said Fanjita was working on it; Ditlew said he didn't want to hear about it or something in his interview . . . makes you wonder!

When it comes to them, they prefer to keep things low key until lots of progress is made. You'll never see either Fanjita or Ditlew give release dates; we'll just have to be patient.

That's because Ditlew is strongly agasinst piracy. Once the "Kloader" is released, you would be able to run UMD ISOs with fastloader, devhook, and umd emulator.

Piracy is bad, it affects psp game development, nomatter how little affect it is, it still does SOMETHING, if 10 people pirate, and each of them pirate 5 (like thats even possible...)games, and each game is ... letsy say 30 bucks... 30x5x10, thats $1500 loss to the game industry, and im sure there are WAY MORE pirate out there, also they probably would have atleast 15 illegal isos...lets do this, 100 isoers, each with 15 iso, and they all pirate the latest release that are 40 bucks... so is 100 * 15 * 40, lets see how much this is ... wow thats 60,000! with 200 pirates thats $120,000 there, how much more money till another great game? now tell me theres not more than a 100 pirate out in this world, imagine all the loss Sony had to endure, so if I were them I'd try my best to stop iso, also you isoers out there should think about this, all those money sony and game developers lost, they could'v invested in something BIG, mabie with those money they can put more functions on the next GTA game, or even make another great game, or even some good sony psp updates, plus, if there weren't isos sony won't try as hard to patch all the updates, and mabie we could ALREADY emulate 2.8 , mabie we could already have psp fw3.0! but because of you isoers, all those possibilities are gone. I'm not against using those loaders to play your own dump.

now thats just my opinion, if you still wanna use isos for your own selfish reason and cuss me out for going against you, then keep doing it, but think about it, can you just let this go on? you dont feel bad at all?

I'd say somehow fanjita makes it so that iso with 2.0+is nearly impossible, but kernel access is still granted, like make it limited access, so most iso won't load, I'm on Ditlew's side!

there is no money lost if they would not have bought the games any way.it is like saying: because you did not buy abottle of water, the water industy will lose money. they are not losing it, they are just not making it.

Like anti-riaa people says, people who've downloaded an album would not have bought it in the first place.

Back on-topic. 1.5 is already doomed with piracy, so Kloader/ I assume it would lead to the same by developers. (Kernal limitations) ah I see where it's going to. Block umd access?

I think by kernel limitations he means like the maximum amount of memory a kernel application can use, the maximum size of an EBOOT or something. Not like blocking UMD access and stuff like that.

actually, i guess the money comes in after the game is made, only paying down the loans that they made to make the game, like the sallery of the workers and stuff

Fanjita has said a few times now that the latest thing he was trying to do was get EBOOTs to run from the XMB in 2.50 and 2.60, not make a kernel eLoader.

Exactly, a RAM patch will be on the way, but if I were Fanjita I would take a long break.

I don't think we'll see a kLoader for a while now, ut we'll get hb execution, same level as before, but from the xmb.

I reckon this is cos Fanjita hates piracy so much

Ever heard of summer vacations?

There's plenty of work still ongoing for bringing fully-usable kernel mode support to v2.5+. At the moment there's a lot of personal stuff going on for many of the people working on this (e.g. vacations, change of job, broken PSP, etc.), and also progress is slow because it's tricky stuff.

It'll be done when it's done, until then there's not much point in building up expectations and general stress, because that only slows things down.

w00t, stright from the horses mouth, now everyone with 2.5/2.6 calm down, i feel sorry for the TA-082 boarders but hey, thats life, im sure no one has forgotton about you guys, least of all Fanjita, who was instrumental in bringing us all homebrew when we were on 2.5/2.6 (before teh downgrade) and im sure both him and ditlew and all the other devs that helped with eloader aren't going to forget about you guys now.

that's my oppinion as well ...
anyonewho wants kernel eloader shoud downgrade (as long as he doesn't have ta-082) and enjoy 1.5 as long as there's no kernel eloader ...

The more ppl pirate games the harder it makes for smaller devolpers to make games. And its passes that cost on to the customer. Now if ppl didn't pirate games the prices could be a lot lower for games.
