Default Reboot to 1.5 xmb from DH2.71! Works great with new DevHook 0.46!

[UPDATE] if you've just installed devhook 0.46, you'll be happy to know this will work with the new devhook.

simply overwrite your vshex.prx with the inluded file in the attachment and you're all set.

If you want to run it simultaneously with another vshex mod, rename the file and addd the entry to the config file in dh/271/flash0/kd . check the later pages in this thread for more info.

Not sure if this was mentioned anywhere on the QJ forums, but I HAD to share this find with everyone:

I found this module in a custom Devhook package (the TretraPack by Wedge)and included was a vshex.prx replacement module which lets you reboot to 1.5xmb from 2.71 by holding the HOME and START buttons.

This plugin is pretty much just like jas0nuk's original reboot to 1.5 mod (which unfortunatley only worked on 2.5 emulation )

(from the included readme)
Reboot to 1.5xmb Devhook Plugin by unknown author!

[EDIT 2] It appears the the author of this plugin is none other Saturne_1606 from ultimatepsp big thanks to Axionkt for this info.

Simply extract the contents of this folder to the root (ms:/ ) of your memorystick and overwrite the existing vshex.prx file.

Reboot to 1.5 from anywhere in the 2.71 XMB by holding the HOME and START buttons.

credit to jas0nuk for developing the original concept and creating a new feature in Devhook that I can't live without!

.

[EDIT]
I also must credit Wedge for compiling the Devhook TetraPack and allowing me to find this plugin in the first place.

Have fun with this mod, and enjoy not having to powercycle your PSP all the time!

Nice!!!

BTW, I packed this zip file during my lunch break at work, so if your run into any installation or functionality issues, let me know and I'll repack the zip.

I added the dh and kd folders for a simple drag and drop installation, but I can repack just the vshex.prx file if it causes any problems.

Cheers!

I've been already using it for some time. If I knew you guys didn't know about it I would give this plugin to you earlier.

you could also use the other mods in the terapack to have seperate eboots for devhook umd/xmb/usb modes *g* ;-)
together with some new firmmod you could start usb,iso or umd mode of devhook directly via keypress.

Yep, jas0nuk's mod apparently only worked on 2.5 but not on any higher FW (probaly due to newer syscalls, i think....)

the reboot button combo is a MUST HAVE feature in IMHO and now I can finally move up to devhook .45 with 2.71 now that I can reboot again.

again, huge props to jas0nuk for the original reboot mod and for getting me hooked on that function!

yes, actually I got this module from the tetrapack, but I renamed the prx from vshexHS.prx to the regular one so you don't have to worry about replacing or editing your pspbtcnf.txt file.

Nice, does it support 2.60? Thats the firmware I prefer to use (Because of 333mhz not crashing when you start up and cheat device for GTA)

Glad you found it as useful as I did!

But just to restate, this is in no way my own work, I just found this prx in the Tetra pack by Wedge, who should get full credit for finding the plugin, even though in his readme file the credits for the module were created by an 'unknown' author.

maybe the dev's handle is 'unknown'

anyway, not sure if Wedge is a QJ forum member, so I didn't feel it was my place to share or link to the entire DevHookTetraPack, but I thought the prx itself was small enough tidbit to share with everyone without stepping on any toes

This mod is from Saturne_1606 from ultimatepsp.
But I can't use this one since I prefer using riedje's mod for devhook which uses its own vshex.prx .
When I saw your thread I was so happy...and disapointed.

Anyways thank you for sharing the info.

Hey! thanks for disclosing the author of this plugin! I'll edit my first post to reflect this!

what extra functions does riedje's mod do?

BTW, what whould happen if you loaded up two custom vshex .prxs?

for example, lets say your riedje's mod would be named vshex.prx and the reboot mod could be renamed to vshex_reboot.prx , you could then edit your pspbtcnf.txt file located in dh/271/flash0/kd to include the following line of "code":

#vsh extender
ms0:/dh/kd/vshex.prx
ms0:/dh/kd/vshex_reboot.prx

which could theoritically load both prxs unless there are some limitations to only load one module for the vsh extender....

even if this did work, it could cause a crash/lockup/shutdown all of the above...

anyone want to try?

I might give a try when I get home.

This is Riedje's mod:

Quote:
Yet another DevHook 0.44 mod
Hi all,

Here's another 0.44 mod that includes some features I've built for myself...

Credit where credit is due: This is based on TheBuzzer's sources, without
which I couldn't have done it. If anyone is interested, I could post my
adapted sources too...

Install notes: first install devhook 0.44 and then place the contents of the
MS_ROOT folder on your MS.

Features (from readme.txt):
DEVHOOK 0.44 mods

- Based on modifications of TheBuzzer
- Mods are:

* Automount on/off
If automount is disabled, the ISO will be 'ejected' on XMB startup. This will allow you
to boot quickly into the XMB, without waiting for the disc to be read. Don't forget to remount the ISO
with the hotkey (see next point) if you want to actually use the ISO.
* Mount hotkey
Pressing Home + CIRCLE will toggle between inserted and ejected status for the UMD. Alternatively,
selecting another ISO with Home + LTRG/RTRG will also re-mount the ISO if it was not previously.
* Screenshot
Original screenshot mod was modified so that the hotkey is L Trigger + NOTE and no continuous mode anymore
* Autorun/autoboot
Autorun option added, which lets you select the autorun option between disabled, 1, 3 and 5 seconds and
autoboot. Autoboot will display no text and go immediately into booting the firmware. In order to abort
the autoboot sequence, hold Triangle during devhook startup, this will abort autoboot sequence and drop
you in the devhook main menu.
* All 'mod' settings are now stored in a seperate file, called addon.ini (same directory as devhook.ini),
to achieve some level of separation from the regular devhook settings.
* Safeboot feature
If the CPU speed is set to 333 MHz, during start the CPU speed will temporarily be set to 222 MHz, until
10 seconds after boot, then it will be restored to 333 MHz. If you exit the XMB (by starting a game) before
the 10 seconds have elapsed, speed will also be restored. If the speed-select hotkeys are used (home + select)
before the speed has been restored to 333 mHz, you will abort the process (so that your speed selection does
not get changed) and the speed will not be automatically be restored to 333 MHz after 10 seconds.
"This is the most interesting feature of this mod (and the reason why I keep it)"
* Apologies for the crappy extension of the GUI.

Thanks go to Booster for making devhook and TheBuzzer for sharing his source/mods and the rest for all the wonderful
stuff (pspdev etc.).

Edit1: Contrary to readme.txt the screenshot hotkey is L trigger + note
Edit2: Added sources.

Edit3: Added devhook.prx with which it should work... Unpack to \dh\kd folder on memorystick.

Edit4: Replaced the mod rar file with one that DOES work on untouched 1.5. The problem seems to be with an EBOOT.PBP in the % that was not correct. My apologies...

I would try your trick but I think that the second vshex will be loaded "overwriting" the first one.

Sorry for my pour english

I'll give it a try tonight.

Do you have any info as to where I can find the Riedje mod pack?

does this work even if you have harleyg's custom firmware installed, and you have the settings to start devhook on powerup.

If you have devhook to boot automatically upon start up w/out any button combo or switch thingy, you'll boot directly back into Devhook when you do a reset cos 1.5 has been set to autoboot.

when you do the reboot combo, you'll essentially reboot to whatever you've set your autoboot settings to in your config file.

example

using Harley g' wifi switch mod to boot devhook

with switch kept off (devhook autoboot), turn on psp ---- loads 1.5 custom FW ----boots straight to Devhook, pressing HOME+START ----reboot 1.5 custom FW ---- boots straight to devhook..... etc. etc.

if you have IRshell set to autoboot on powerup, then exiting Devhook via the reboot combo will auto boot you to IRshell.

if you have a Custom FW that you can toggle dev autobooting with either the wifi switch or hold switch, make sure you disable the autoboot so that you don't end up going right back to devhook.

I'd recommend using a FW mod that you can turn on/off via a switch or button held at powerup rather than a hardcoded autoboot, devhook or otherwise.

Hope that helps!

-_- so what the result?.
btw i love riedge mod and also i would love to include home+start button mod. if we got the source code for home+start button, i guess we can combine it to make 1 prx. possible right
