Personally I've never thought about the differences between greats and perfect/marvelous. As soon as I get a AA it means the songs too easy and I should find something harder. I suppose I could get a few AAAs, but i play too casually to bother paying that much attention to the game.

AAA is all perfect and/or marv. once u get 1 great, its a AA. the diff between a AA and an A usually has to do with the amount of misses/goods/bads you get.

I somehow missed posting this score.

This song is crazy. The beginning 10 seconds of this song are just stupidly hard, then after that, it's steady 400 BPM the entire time.

    I passed it twice, too.

I uploaded it if anyone wants to try it.

I'm not calling you out, but could you explain to me why the tap count for emiru maniax is different from each other? I don't really understand that too much.

In PSP Revolution, any jumps (2 arrows to hit at the same time) that are missed count for 1 miss, yet any jumps that are hit count for 2 hits of the same accuracy. So for every jump in the song, your score can deviate 1 hit more or less, depending on if you hit or miss the jump.

This applies to hands (3 arrows) and quads (4 arrows) as well.

We went through the same scenario with WiFO a while ago.

I just passed a different version of fury of the storm (title just shows up as "fury") but I don't have a screenshot readily available. It was 4407 notes total (11/second, not the hardest out there, but a respectable difficulty) and it occurred to be that I don't have any harder songs to move on to, so i was hoping someone could link me to a good song pack with relatively hard songs.

And for the record it was only my fourth time trying the song, i hadn't been trying and failing for a long time, I just didn't think i could pass it.

Well, this is going to be overkill:

Hard Song Pack [97.1 MB when unpacked]

A pack with a bunch of ridiculous songs I've passed before (I have screenshots of every pass). Read the song notes and you'll get a general summary of what each song is like before you play them. Some of the songs I keep linking in this topic are in there, and a few others that were previously only shown in screenshots.

And I'm pretty serious when I say everything in here is generally insane and unfathomable unless you can pass songs in a similar league (12-14 footers). I personally had to mash to pass about 4 of the songs in that pack the entire time, and even then, it mattered how well I could mash, because if you desync from the song, you're done.

If you pass anything, post screenshots here. Enjoy.

It is with great pride that I present to you all:

    (Click the image to download.)

My first simfile. I'm confident that it's generally well-done and synced correctly, but I'll hold off submitting it anywhere else for a bit while I receive some feedback from the few locations I've posted this link, and to see if I'm stepping things right.

The Hard difficulty is rather repetitive because of pitch-relevancy kicking in just about everywhere, so it's generally going to be pretty easy if you don't have much trouble passing songs of similar difficulty (11-footer). However, some patterns are tricky, like the one synced to the chanting in the beginning.

Challenge is the real gem to me, though. I only added more arrows where they should've gone in Hard (or rather, where they would've made Hard any more difficult to warrant a higher difficulty meter), and even added the background beat as a jump everywhere, so it's pretty intense. The slow section gets ridiculous as it concludes near the middle. I'm going to make it look simply impossible by posting a picture of it going at 1x and 91.81 BPM:

    Spoiler for screenshot:

    Believe me, it's passable.

I personally haven't passed Challenge yet on PSP, but have done so on Stepmania and got an A on it. I'll pass it on a good day; haven't played PSPR in about a week now. Just need some warm-ups before I start passing the good stuff. :P

Haha, yeah, I used to be able to pass a load of stuff. I slowed down a bit on playing and started stepping a bit more now, so I don't think I'll be making insane song passes for a bit. Doesn't help that I got a pair of new PC games to play for a while, too.

In addition to that, I really want to get a camera with a tripod or something similar so I can record. I really don't play up my best when I have to worry about the camera falling out of range of the screen every couple of seconds, and all I've got right now is a pretty low-quality webcam that I would have to mount to my shirt collar. That would be fun to use; the MIHC video I posted a while back is an example of the quality, and the arrows themselves looked like blurs, even in the dark. :/

However, I do have the scores I made on all of the files in the pack right here:

    Spoiler for screenshots:

Minijacks FTL. That's the only reason it's hard.

I've probably passed this like 5 times by now. It's a generally fun file.

Meh. It gets a lot easier after the initial handstream.

Mash, pretty much. Gameo said he passed this a long time ago, so I found it again and passed it long after I was more than capable of doing it.

    Repost.

I don't even know how I passed this. After the slow section is a bunch of jumpstream, but I guess I got better at that already.

    Noteworthy for mods used.

Repost, I think. Very good song.

Repost, too. Note the mods I used.

I passed it twice, but I don't think this is the better score.

Passed multiple times. Cool file, but I still can't nail most of the holds mixed in at certain points of the song.

The last minute or so is unstepped. In Stepmania the song ends a few seconds after the last arrow, but on PSPR, it just keeps on playing the mp3 until it's over. Interesting music, I guess.

Repost. Insane. I passed it on the bus ride home from school, of all places.

    Challenge difficulty.

Edit difficulty. It takes some pretty good rhythm to get through the part at the beginning, and you have to do it again at the very end of the song.

Old score. Can't be bothered to do it again.

Reach's version is pretty easy if you ask me. bigairman destroyed this file, though. >_>

But can he do this? :O

Still my greatest pass. If I ever have the drive to pass Nauticus's Tragic Past Revealed, that will replace this one. But I doubt that will ever happen. I've gone as far as the end of the 400 BPM part, where a ton of jumps and a right-side jack are. Probably won't get farther than that until I get better at jacks and get more stamina.

I should probably get an A on this for good measure. I guess it's decent for practicing jumpstream, but Vault of Heaven on Challenge is better for that, if you want to look for it.

One of the three passes I've done for the song, probably not the best score I have, seeing how far back in my scores I had to dig to find this one.

I should've put this in the pack, mostly for the part in the middle that just gets out of hand. I need to do a run with mods in it eventually. I can't pass this in Stepmania at all, but handling jumpstream on PSP seems pretty easy. *shrug*

Here's my Hard score, for The Others:

I also noticed you didn't play it on 2.0x. I haven't tried playing like that in a while. :O

Would you say it's stepped accurately? One of the other people I sent it to couldn't pass it. *shrug*

EDIT: Well I tried 1x and Blind:

I feel a lot more comfortable with myself when all I'm seeing are white arrow explosions, because I usually get thrown off when I start desyncing from the song and getting a lot of Perfect and Great hits. Not being able to see my combo counter is kind of weird, though. I haven't really messed around with Blind because I found the raw challenge in it outclassed by Dark. Maybe I should start.

    EDIT2: Aww yeah.

Dead sendspace link, got any mirrors?

Also that other song is a dead link now too.

I've been getting 16-17 footers from the ffr database, but lots of them get annoying with triple jumps and whatnot (I'm only on thumbs, so those are basically impossible). I can still pass em, but they aren't as fun. I'm gonna look for ones of similar difficulty at around 400 bpm, thats what I'm most comfortable with. You should all try out Absolute Sole Right from the ffr simfile database, its a bit creepy but a fun play. I got 90% on Challenge but my screenshot button just makes my psp freeze and shut down now, so I'll have to make a video or something.

I'm pretty sure that freeze is because your PSP/PHOTO folder is missing. It happened to me and a couple of other people in this topic before.

I'll probably pass Absolute Sole Right's Challenge difficulty when I get some stamina; I can't even pass some of the stuff I can normally pass right now. Typing a lot today. :/

I did get decently far into the song, but my right thumb just gave up on me and I had to let it go. Oh well, very passable from my observations.

I encourage you to play those songs in the pack I put together; if you can handle Absolute Sole Right, those should probably be within your abilities. Good luck.

In the meantime, I have 6 songs I've decided are decent enough to be stepped, and I'll be picking one and beginning the step process on it eventually. I already got their BPMs down, it's just a matter of which one I want to do first, or which one is most practical.

@FreePlay: I appreciate the revival of the pack. I personally don't have it anymore; they're just pulls from my own personal packs I made for convenience.

EDIT: Well...that didn't take long for my thumbs to start working again like they should.

Abundance of holds really makes this song a lot easier, since even the shortest holds on PSP Revolution still give you a rather large life bar boost. Middle of the song was pretty hard, but the slow sections near the end were pretty simple. My combo should be higher, but I failed to combo one of the easier sections because I went for a hold arrow and didn't land one of the other arrows at the same time (it was a jump with a hold arrow included). Oh well, I can probably score better than this.

Also two other scores from today:

    Shameless.

    Spoiler for screenshots:

Stargroup never fails to amaze me. ==Planet KARMA== is probably his best file, but it's pretty hard, too.

This is actually in one of my own packs I made for myself. It's actually harder than this on Stepmania because there are tons of mines everywhere.

This sounds like a remix of Rose. Nice file, beginning had some random arrows placed where beats don't exist. :/

Personally, I think -joe-'s version of this was better.

Ah, super-fast stream. I got a ton of practice for this out of Strangeprogram and 250 BPM, probably helped here. Suffers from invisible beat syndrome, and the song ends too early on PSP Revolution as opposed to on Stepmania, making a couple of arrows auto-miss, and also removes the chance at hitting the point-scoring arrow at the end. I'd swear this should be an A. :/

    Interesting song.

Bah, I know I can combo higher than that.

This one took a couple of tries before I switched to 1.5x. It's extremely hard to combo those fast trills (356 BPM? WTF?), and eventually devolves into mashing two directions at a time to clear sections. It's a very short song, though, so it wasn't something miraculous.

I loved this song in DJ Max. Ending was pretty weird. O_o

I had this file back in early 2007, but could never pass it. Now it's just annihilation.

I can improve this, most likely.

Also, I decided on what song I am going to step, and I made the graphics for it already:

    Spoiler for background image:

Roughly translates to "Hiroari Shoots a Strange Bird ~ Till When?" It's a Touhou song remix by dBu. The original version has already been stepped and is on FFR, but the quality of the original version is not comparable to dBu's version in my opinion. I found it highly steppable. It's lengthy, but I feel the results will be a fun file. I'm not sure about the scope of difficulty it'll have; I'll probably just cut to the chase and make the full file I want it to be, like the Challenge difficulty of The Others, probably harder based on the beat of this song. I'll probably work in reverse to make an easier version of it in the long run to appease other players, though.

Can't really set a date for this one, but I'm working on it.

I'm the world champion, no kidding. Things like Tank101's Disregard and the steam one, are easily passable.

Have you seen bigairman's scores a few pages back? Some of those are just absurd. He can stream with insane accuracy, and has a video of a legitimate AAA posted. I don't believe something like that is possible on thumbs (however, on index fingers, yes).

Also, try the pack I made that FreePlay uploaded. Fun stuff. I'm interested in your recent scores if you can pass Disregard and other mindnumbing fast songs with ease.

    Yesterday was a great day.

    Spoiler for hard song passes:

This is crazy. Tons of quads and hands, jumpstream, and irregular patterns. The difficulty of this song is in the league of Shind Bad and St. Airhand.

The entire song is riddled with 32ths all over the place in jumpstream. The end of the song is ridiculous, being 12th jumpjacks for a really long time. Very hard song.

Meh, I should've done this a while ago.

This song gives no breaks. Dew makes hard files.

I have no idea how I did this. The middle of the song is 32th trills, and I suck at trills.

This song is really, really fun, but difficult. I can probably pass the edit difficulty with a few tries.

cetaka file, that alone should probably show how hard this song is. cetaka is the same person who stepped St. Airhand, and all of their other songs are in the same league of difficulty. This one is full of buzz sounds, so the patterns are expressed in 32th bursts. Very difficult song, despite being rather short.

I was going to do Challenge until I saw the middle of the stepchart; it's not possible for me right now, simple as that. 200 BPM and heavy jumpstream.

    Spoiler for marathon song passes:

Over 4000 arrows. Less than 2% of the arrows were combo breaks.

Ridiculous Marvelous ratio on a very dense jumpstream song. High combo considering the difficulty of the song.

Meh, I A'd this a while ago as well, but not with Marvelous hits this high.

I could do better than this. :/

    Generic stream, nothing special.

Aside from the very "wtf" song title, very good score.

    First try on the song.

I passed this a while ago, but I bumped my score up to a B finally.

I didn't play this before because I didn't know why it wasn't synced correctly on PSPR. DWI files are read really badly on PSPR, so I had to open it in Stepmania and turn it into a .sm file for the BPM changes to work (thus syncing the song correctly). Anyway, this A was unexpected, and the song itself is really well-stepped.

Had to sync this in Stepmania for it to work, too.

    216 BPM song with a ton of streams. Very impressive combo given the speed of the song. I want my AA. ;_;

    Finally, an A.

This was during the testing phase of my first theme, so the grade graphic was different.

    Spoiler for slightread AAs:
First tries of the day. Not familiar with a lot of the stepcharts. As you might guess, a lot of these songs are easy in comparison to the ones posted above.

RAGE, I broke a 38-ish combo at the very beginning, then ended up full comboing the rest of the song. I tried it again, didn't come even close.

    Spoiler for generic As:

This song is beautiful. Get it on FFR and play it.

If you want any of the files pictured (or can't find them), I can provide, just ask.

Looks like it's time for a bump.

It looks like the themes topic was disregarded; anyway, I ported a new noteskin to PSPR.

Orbular Noteskin - Created by MacGravel, ported by KiteDXX

Click the image to download. Note that these arrows make Dizzy virtually useless as a challenge. Seem to increase accuracy on Stepmania, try it yourself on PSPR. I seem to have improved when I use them, but I honestly prefer to play with Trance Machina nonetheless.

Also, I have finished my second file. Click the image to download:

    A Second Open-Air Burial - dBu music

(I know, I skipped Hiroari, it's a little repetitive right now, maybe I'll finish it later.)

Touhou music. Simply put, this file is ridiculous on PSP. Heavy on jacks and other spread-oriented patterns, clearly intended to be played on Stepmania (which I recommend). However, worth a shot on PSP if you're confident in your skill. I'll pass it when I start playing PSPR again. Already got an A on it in Stepmania.

EDIT: Well this would be nothing without a score post, so:

    Spoiler for screenshots:

This is a hard song. It's extremely well-synced though, way better than The Others, in my opinion. >_>

    Generic A.

Ridiculous 221 BPM Berzerker stuff. :/

This song is pretty cool, I might be able to A it.

    Generic A.

Awesome song, pretty hard and heavy on jumps and hands, though.

Oh, right. I can pass Heavy on Death Moon. Challenge is still ridiculous because of the 640 BPM parts that are extremely hard to pass, and Edit is unfathomable on PSP.
