I don't own an iPod so I am not familiar with it. I do know, however, that there is something called iPod Linux for the older iPod models. I was just wondering if that linux could run the linux usbhost files and act as a USBHost for iR Shell? I'm not sure if the iPod is a slave device (probably is) rather than a host device, but would that make it so the USB host won't work? Anyway, you'd also need a different USB cable, but I'm pretty sure the right kind is made (you wouldn't have to solder your own).
So, can an iPod with iPod Linux run the USBHost files and (with the correct cable) work as a USBHost for iR Shell or not?
