its not useless... its ment for demos and the upcoming psx emulator...

Also... indeed it would be possible by ram-patching the library...

But I doubt anyone is going to do that for you...

i think fanjita's working on what u just said (2.6 HB load from menu w/out eLOADER)

u still need eLOADER to start the program that allows the HB loading from the XMB though

With kernel access now available, is it possible to overwrite the 2.6 vshmain.prx to load other modules when booting (a la 'custom firmware' for 1.5 FW PSP)?

Are there any security checks or differences between the vshmain.prx of firmwares 2.6 and 1.5 that prevents the 'custom firmware' from happening on a 2.6 firmware PSP?

If Fanjita applies his ram patch by making a custom .PRX and loading it through a custom firmware (if applicable on 2.6 PSP's), we wouldn't need to load GTA: LCS every time to apply the 'patch'.

the custom vshmain.prx is an elf, which has been renamed to a prx.
Firmware 1.50 supports unencrypted elfs as prx's but not unencrypted prx's.
I think I heard every other firmware cannot run unencrypted elfs/prx's.

and nesian hit the spot...

1.0 / 1.5 are the only firmwares capable of running elfs renamed to prx...

no go on 2.6... sorry mate... only way is ram-patching until now... or simply using gta anyway to boot homebrew

Functions that patch the modules not in flash0, but once they're loaded in RAM, so that their actions change. It's non-permanent, and on 2.50/2.60 it would still require that you run eLoader once for every hard reboot you do.

Anyways, custom FW on 2.xx isn't normally possible because those firmwares won't let you replace vshmain.prx with an unencrypted binary. I tried it with 2.60 in Devhook; it never finished loading.

If I can find a dumped copy of Epsilon BIOS, we may be able to do something more useful...
