I havnt been here in a LONG time and only heard about the modchip when it was first announced. I have been searching and I keep seeing that the Epsilon BiOS is fake and I need some help clarifying some information..
If I get the Modchip will I be able to update my firmware, but still be able to play homebrew? Such as when 3.0 or whatever the next update is called is released will I be able to update my firmware and my PSP will stay fine? What are confirmed features of the mod chip? Are the Epsilon BiOS real? Are they released? If you get a premodified PSP off of modchip world, how long should I wait until I get the PSP with the modchip installed? (estimate of course, I live in FL) If I posted this in the wrong forum, can a moderator please move this thread? Is it able to make your PSP region code-less? How does dual boot work? |

Features of the Modchip
Allows to dual boot 2 firmwares. You can unbrick the modchip firmware. You can flash the modchip with any firmware. Makes PSP region code-less for films, games are region free anyway. The dual boot works by holding L at startup. It boots the modchip firmware if you do this. Don't press anything and it boots the proper Sony BIOS. Epsilon custom firmware is real and is excellent from modchip users point of view (A lot of non modchip users say its crap for some reason.) If you update to 3.00 on one firmware and keep the other one at 1.50 then it will work fine, you just dual boot. Epsilon firmware allows you to have 2.71 features with 1.50 homebrew + ISO loading direct from GAME section. Also the flashing of the modchip firmware incase you brick is done via a USB you install in the battery compartment of the PSP. A programme on the PC can be used to flash any firmware onto the modchip firmware. I think I read somewhere on the forums that you can unbrick and flash any firmware to the original Sony BIOS chip as well, but Im sure someone else will clarify this. |
