Default A few questions about downgrading in general

Well I have a 2.7 PSP and I have grown tired of speculation and rumors about exploits. I see that Libbtiff seems very promising, but I dont want to wait months for it. I have decided that I will go tomorrow or Tuesday on my quest to find me a used PSP.
Now if I get 2.6 PSP I will downgrade, but What I want to know why people downgrade to 1.5 > 2.0 > 1.5? and what is the risk of downgrading from 2.6 as opposed to 2.0. A friend of mine who is a computer retard downgraded from 2.6 to 1.5 and said it was pretty easy.
All I want to know is which one is easier, and why 2.6 > 1.5 > 2.0 > 1.5, as to not just 2.6 > 1.5.

There's varying different viewpoints on whether or not to go to 2.0 and then back down to 1.5 after the fact. Most people seem to do it for peace of mind more than anything else.

If you do go from 2.6 -> 1.5, with a good DOWNDATER folder, then you shouldn't have any problems.

Either way, it will only take 5 minutes out of your day to go up to 2.0 and then back down to 1.5.

So what you are saying is that it isnt necessary, I mean I am very much literate in PCs, PSPs is a whole different animal and i am not sure how to do it. The other question s how much if any type of risk difference between the 2?
