I don't know if everyone's having this issue, it might just be my cruddy Lexar ms, but it would appear that gpsp doesn't like to save any changes made to the button configuration to my memory stick. Or, perhaps you've left your file on read-only to prevent that nasty bug.
Either way, I've looked into the file through a hex editor to adjust the default settings. For now, all I have are what I believe to be the values for each different button. I've only actually tested a couple, but it makes sense that they should fall in this order.
Here you can see two pieces, 0B00 and 0D00. They're the triangle and square buttons, respectively, and I've set them to MENU and NOTHING. After a bit more testing, I'll list exactly which value corresponds to which button on the PSP.
00 - UP
01 - DOWN
02 - LEFT
03 - RIGHT
04 - A
05 - B
06 - L
07 - R
08 - START
09 - SELECT
0A - FRAMESKIP
0B - MENU
0C - FASTFORWARD
0D - NOTHING
Great find... thanks... btw, the first value 0100 seems to control the screensize, 0200 in replacement makes it 16:9 :D !
My config is like this now:
my changes include
0200 0000 0100 0000 0A00 0000 0B00 0000 0400 0000 0500 0000 0600 0000 0700 0000 0100 0000 0200 0000 0000 0000 0300 0000 0900 0000 0800 0000
You do know that those button input values can be found within the source...
And are you positive it's built to save your configuration? If not, Ill make an unofficial release of it, with it including the configuration settings saved... Its not hard.
Whenever I make any changes it messes up and I have to replace my config file or else I get the Blue-screen of Death just for pressing the D-Pad!
you have to use a HEX editor on the file. thanx drathian your fullscreen tip worked great on my gpsp.cfg file. now fullscreen all the time
I don't get how to edit it. Usually I just use Wordpad, but it doesn't seem to work right in this case. Can anyone make me a .cfg file with Square as B and X as A and Circle does nothing? I'd do it myself, but I'm a little confuzzled.
try using the editor works in most cases if you only want to do simple hex-editing :Jump:
What editor though? This is my problem. What should I use? I don't understand all of these numbers and how to use them with the .cfg file.
Ultra-Edit is by far the most portable, as it has a built-in HexEditor, programming syntax, and the auto-indenting :)
For simple Hex Editing, nothing else, just get Hex Workshop. It's a limited evaluation, but it's like 3 months or something.
just get PSPAD for windows its free, has a hex editor, and code syntax highlighting.
can someone make one with 2 frameskips, fullscreen, x=a and o=b (find it easier :P) flash rom 128kb
All of you have probably already tried this, but changing the gpsp folder permissions worked for me. In Windows it was marked as read only. I unchecked it, and settings saved without a problem. Sorry if I've posted something too obvious, I'm new here. And yes, I know this thread hasn't been posted in for 6 years, but when I was Googling for solutions to this problems, this was one of the top links, and all the solutions involved hex-editing, which kinda intimidates me :)
