I was given zipped up DownGrader files + 1.5 Flash data to check out from 10 people
5 of them got bricks, the other 5 got successes
Using FCIV to generate checksums for the directory structures and then see what was wrong with the 5 people that bricked - the result was nothing
They ALL had the correct directory structure
They ALL had the SAME dumps
And all had the correct PSP motherboard
Which leads me to saying...
WARNING: the DownGrader IS unstable, and it's ALL by luck
As much as they say that it has a built in check to prevent problems - there's seems to be a problem with that check. Sometimes the DownGrader gets cuts off when loaded with the TIFF exploit, and the code still executes and corrupts the flash.
Smart thing to do: Wait for Fanjita to save the day
The future of homebrew is to edit the prx that controls the GAME loading functions, and remove the check to allow homebrew games to run from the GAME menu, and then 2.71 will become the new 1.5
