whats the difference? better quality? if so which one would be best? also at what bitrate?

I think it makes it into a smaller size than other formats.

Atrac 3 is Better at lower bitrates than say MP3, but it also produces good quality with lower filesizes at higher bitrates.

Atrac aint as bad as most people make out, and it does wonders for battery life.
