XMB Icon Hacking...

you almost got it but your sposed to delete every thing from c20c to Fa4f
then copy everything from 2DF4 to FB03 from the newly generated 1.50 topmenu then make sure the bytes xÚ are at fa50
Edti you can delete padding to get xÚ at fa50

So I should go like this?

1. Delete everything from C20C to FA4F from the 2.50 topmenu
2. then copy everything from 2DF4 to FB03 from the 1.50 topmenu
3. then paste that into the 2.50 topmenu
4. then delete the FF padding to get xÚ at FA50

Is that how it goes?

The next step me and coldbird are planning to take is using unscrambled icon data (still compressed) and embedding it at the end of the scrambled 3.02/2.71 topmenu_plugin.rco and fixing the pointer to the location of the new icon.

but the pointer is encrypted in the file

I can't seem to see xÚ even remotely close to FA50

FA50 is 69 but xÚ is no where near it.

I'll just wait till someone makes a version that makes one for 2.50 :(

ill make some thing realy simple where all you have to do is extract the icons from the topmenu

I flashed what I had so far. And as you might know, I have lost all my icons!

Meh, good thing I backed up my files.

heres a simple app all you have to do is extract the icons that kgsws's app made and run it make sure you read the readme

be carful, you can't use all BMP resolution (64x64) psp will snip some pixels ... i think 4 ... so icons can have 60x64

I think I'm ok

Most of them have a black border anyway.

both of you all i used were the images you provided, a factory 2.5 topmenu_plugin, kgsws's tool and a hex editor which you should have already

I think I might make an video tut tomorrow

and a quick note it is easier if you build the other icons on one of the files I made for you guys

Edit: and |-Anubis-| im goina work on getting the other icons working better then im going to make an app that will do all icons and will save you space because the current method is really sloppy

Once the programs are all straightened out, this will be one very cool hack.

we wont be able to fix the missing icon problem till we can decrypt the 2.7+ topmenu_plugin.rco darkstone and coldbird are working on it

dude your plugin worked like a charm the only question is can you develop or make better icons i like the old ones but maybe you can add more flavor to them

I needed to clean up those images.... Now I need to remake the topmenu_plugin.rco! :(

those images look fine but the music icon has that little line at the left side

it will be easy now you know what you have to highlight in 2.5rco and it will be easyer to copy over just make sure it doesnt say this will change file size

im a complete noob when it comes to images or when it comes to hex-editing or else i would do it myself

yea I already fixed the music icon and the video icon.

good it will be any better if anyone is really really good at gfx and isn't that good at hex or anything i can convert it to 2.5+ topmenu_plugin
