Okay, thiswas going to be a commercial release until it got dumped by the publisher. Now its future is unclear, though we are seriously considering releasing it to the homebrew community, possibly as an open source project or something. We're not sure what we are going to do with it, but I though it couldn't hurt to get a discussion going.
Is there any reliable way to capture game video off a PSP with 1.0 firmware? ![]() ![]()

Please do it, the PSP homebrew scene desperately needs something of this quality.

Thanks to everyone for the enthusiasm.
Ollie, I tend to think the "best homebrew ever" remarks are not meant to imply more fun or more useful. I think its a reaction to the level of technical and artistic effort. The build seen here is about 18 megs. I can't say how big the final would have been, but I'd say 3 to 4 times, possibly even as high as 100 meg. Music actually stood the best chance of ballooning the size by leap and bounds. I should point out, though, for anyone wondering, that all the dev tools are homebrew (with the exception of the art), so you can do strong dev work without official Sony (read: expensive) hardware/software. I have some in game grabs now, btw. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

#1_Stunna - Actually, it already has ad-hoc support (2 player currently, 4 player planned). Game sharing was also in the works.
There are some issues with getting the game out to the homebrew community that are holding things up. First, there is some proprietary code in there that we aren't really at liberty to just hand out, so making the whole thing open source is unlikely, at least for now. Second, it was all done under firmware 1.0, so other firmware revisions will almost certainly be unable to run the game. That could be fixed, but would require a TON of effort, and we are cash and time poor at the moment. If Sony wanted to let us release it as a free gift to all PSP owners, homebrew and otherwise, that would be one thing, but knowing Sony, I don't see that happening. However, if you do have firmware 1.0, email me at jmlongworth@earthlink.net and I'll look into hooking you up with the current build. |
