Post [GUIDE] disable Location Free tv in SE-C

this saves about 2mbs of flash0 space.
first of all you will need the following things

- a hex editor (or notepad)
- psp filer (needs to have hacker mode)
- and a psp.......

1. ok first off start psp filer.

2. press start a couple times until you get to your flash0 directory. (you might want to press select and change the language to english so you know wtf your doing)

3. scroll down to vsh/nodule/ and look for lftv_main_plugin.prx, lftv_middleware.prx, and lftv_plugin.prx.

4. select them all with square then press X to open up the menu then press O to "copy all marked files to RAMDISK".

5. after its done copying, press start a couple more times until you get to your memory stick.

6. after you are in the root directory of your memory stick press X again to open up the menu then press triangle to "paste all RAMDISK file here".

7. then exit psp filer, go into usb mode and find the files you copied.

8. open them up with a hex editor and choose "select all" then delete it.

9. save the files. they should all be 0kb.
start up psp filer again find all the files you just edited.

10. copy them to the RAMDISK again.

11. find the original files in the flash0 and replace them with the 0kb ones.

12. location free tv should now be disabled.

to save even more space start up psp filer once more, get to the flash0 and scroll down to vsh/resource/ and find lftv_main_plugin.rco, lftv_plugin.rco, lftv_tuner_jp_jp.rco, and lftv_us_en.rco.

select them with square and repeat the process you did with the prx's.

i saved a bunch of much needed flash0 space doing this. enjoy

Good guide, but some changes really need to be made. You should make it in the form of steps, and don't forget your return key. :P However, I do like the effort for sure, and it's a great idea- we all could use a little more flash0 space. It could open the holes for something like 3.0SE.

With more flash memory, you can make more firmware modifications.

yeah but there is only like 1/2mbs of free flash0 space in SE-C. this creates about 2 or 3 more mbs of free space.

BTW, what happens when you try to start Location Free now? BSOD or just a dead link like when you disable network update?

yeah that would be cool to do this without having to do all the damn work. on x-flash all you would have to do is press a button.

ok nice guide but.....

You can just make empty .txt files and rename them lftv_main_plugin.prx, lftv_middleware.prx, and lftv_plugin.prx. then flash them in with filer.

I mean the whole beginning part when you copy them out and hex edit the files is pretty unnecessary.

aside from that great tip of freeing up space... I never heard of one person that had a location free player. although I hear the ps3 is doing a pretty good job in its place these days...

But can you access your ps3 from any hotspot in the world like you can with the location free player?

and how come no one ever figured out how to make a PSP think that a comp was a location free player? (and Im not talking about iRShell or PiMPStreamer)

i am with this guy, just create blank text files and change their names and flash, no need to copy from flash0 to begin with.

i also did this to the rss stuff to free up some space. i wanted to flash the fonts and kd/resources of devhook to make it faster. that is my good reason for more space on the flash.

you can actually DELETE those files with no harm done to your psp. same effect as replacing.

mafia1ft: L+LEFT+R in that order.

ok ill change the guide as soon as i get home from school. the hex editing part was pretty pointless. and i dont think just deleting them would do the trick. i did that to my rss and i got a bsod. but when i replaced it with a 0kb file it was a dead link.

from vsh/resource and vsh/Nodule you can delete the following to disable the following:

mp3 player: backup/delete all files beginning w/ music
html browser: backup/delete all files beginning w/ html
rss subscriber: backup/delete all rss files
video player: backup/delete all files starting with msvideo and video

you can also replace jpn0.pgf kr0.pgf and the bw* file in the font directory with a ltn0.pgf to save another 3 megs or so.

2 MB??? :P

I just extracted exerything before I deleted 8 files, and they are .5 MB.

I believe I have about 6 or so MB in Flash0 free. By only deleting lftv files. Just subtract the space files in Flash0 are taking up from 24.
