download PSP Filer and delete everything in flash 1. ok dont actually do that. but if you got to restore default setting while in SEC (not in devhook. it'll cause the BSOD im pretty sure.

... No, what you need to do is reset the PSP to system defaults. Duh.

It's not that simple. I tried it myself. >.>

For some reason, the system defaults option doesn't reinstall the folders that were accidentally deleted. The only option is BSoD. Easiest way for BSoD is to delete all of Flash1.

odd. when i deleted all the files in flash1 (although not the folders) I did not get a BSOD, it went straight into the setup... maybe because after i did it i turned it off

Probably because the PSP couldn't find any flash1 files, so then it thought it came right out of the box. You didn't also get a BSOD when you first turned on your PSP after you bought it haven't you?

You do realize that ALL THE PSP DOES AFTER A BSOD IS RESET TO DEFAULTS? There is absolutely no difference between forcing a BSOD and resetting to defaults manually. Sheesh.

You're right. Why does nobody listen you anymore? lol
They perform the same function people! Why would sony create two different processes for two jobs that effectively do the SAME THING!!!

I had the same problem with the background not saving. Restoring default settings does not fix it. To fix it I deleted everything in flash1 with PSPfiler, then exited and got the BSOD. After that I had to boot my PSP into the recovery menu to setup 2.71SE settings again(as those are stored in flash1 as well). You will probably want to enable 'Plain Modules' through recovery, as this option is enabled when you install 2.71SE-C by default, but gets turned off when you delete flash1 (if you have the hybrid 2.71SE-C/2.8 using the 2 2.8 prx's then you have to enable Plain Modules or games wont work at all). Then I installed Devhook .51 files to flash1 and it everything worked great. Background now actually saves.

Someone on Maxconsole said if you cant get the BSOD to show up after deleting flash1, then you are supposed to turn off your PSP after deleting flash1. Then turn on your PSP while holding R to boot into recovery mode. Then exit recovery and you should get the BSOD.

I didnt have to do that but if you cant get the BSOD with my method try that I guess. Good luck.

Before arguing, I really think you ought to try this yourself. As I've said before, resetting defaults without a BSoD does not reinstall the missing folders into Flash1.

As a matter of fact, do the following.

Delete every folder in Flash1 except for the "registry" folder. You shouldn't get a BSoD from this. Now return to the XMB. Try setting a wallpaper. It'll show up for a bit, but disappear again next time you reboot. Use the usual option to return to default settings. For visual confirmation, run that little wallpaper bit again. To see for yourself, look through a file browser and notice that all of the flash1 folders you removed are still missing. Default settings won't rewrite those folders. Only a BSoD will.

If you have problem with flash1 due to devhook, then why dont you uninstall all the things devhook installed? theres an option in devhook which let you remove all files that flashed into flash1 (DH 0.5+)

That won't work.

I had this happen. Here is link to the discussion

http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=38952

Here is my final post which sums up what happened and the solution.

Quote:
Thanks for help everyone I got this resolved.

For others that might have this problem (and other problems that relate to config savings in f1):

1) It turns out that, as others said above, installing .51 devhook blows away all of the f1 directory.

2) The ORIGINAL directory structure is:
->registry (there are 2 dat files here)
->dic (there is a ATOKL0.DAT file here)
->vsh
|--> theme
->net
|-->http
->gps

3) unfortunately the standard recovery only creates the "registery directory" this is why I couldn't savethe photo as there was no "theme' directory.

4) Creating the above directories in PSPfiler (or others) doesn't work because there is no ATOKL0.DAT file in the "dic" directory (this is why copying the f1 from the a devhook distribution would work I guess)

5) What must be done:
a) Like everyone above said: delete all directories in flash1
b) reboot but you MUST HOLD DOWN R to go to the SE-C recovery mode, if you let it go to the standard PSP recovery,only the registry directory will be created (this is the reason I think that standard "reset to default settings" doesn't work) and you'll have to do this all over again (as I did once ^_^;
c) you'll get the multilingual blue screen (of death) then the usual set time etc... After that all proper directories should have been created and you get the ATOKL0.DAT file (I guess you can just create the directories and copy this file but it's actually easier to just let the recovery handle it.)
d) write your devhook config to flash per usual.
