Default PSP with Hard Disk

Has anyone tryed to replace the UMD drive with a laptop Hard Disk or an SD card reader?

The UMD drive it's a waste if you don't have enough games :wall:. I would like some removable media with 1GB of space or a fixed 30 - 40 GB storage like a Hard Disk.

¿Is it possible / practical?

Thanks

A had a DVD player with a built in Compact Flash card a while back... it was discovered that it was a simple IDE device, so it was hacked and replaced with a hard drive. It worked great and you could fill it up with video and MP3s.

I was wondering if it's possible to do the same thing with the PSP... could the connection/drivers to the memory stick slot be hacked and repaced with a tiny microdrive? I'd happily give up my mem stick in favor of a 4 gig drive!

same micro drives are a good solution, but the only thing im worried about when someone does this (when not if) is the battery life, and heat.

Micro drive would need an external power source, unless they were to release an intergrated battery which would power both the psp and the micro drive. Because the memory stick power was never designed to handle such a device.
