It has no game shops.
yeah. but not the local gameshop. gameshop is available here but not the ebgames and gamestop. it also famous but i don't remember what is name. so not have known gameshop doesn't mean that the country is suck.
Oooh nice work guys. Hopefully we'll be seeing a downgrader for those 2.8ers ;)
When you downgrade, is bricking down to a user error or is it just a risk you take?
Here's a (rather stupid) analogy for you:Originally Posted by Nicky
On Planet PSP there are lots of pieces of paper (memory). Some of these pieces of paper are in a big, locked vault (kernel memory). We want to access the paper inside the vault, but the vault is locked.
There are some people who have access to this vault, however, but they won't unlock it for any random person. Luckily, one of them is rather stupid. His name is Mr. SceRegOpenRegistry (We'll call him Mr.S for short). You can ask this person questions. When you ask him a question you have to tell him where to find a piece of paper (pass in a pointer to some memory) and he'll write the answer to it on that piece of paper. If you ask him a question which doesn't make sense (pass in incorrect arguments), he'll just draw a big stripe through the paper (write 0xffffffff to the memory). Also, if you ask him to write the answer on some paper inside the vault, he'll decline.
Here's where his stupidity comes in. If you ask him a nonsensical question, and tell him to write the answer somewhere inside the vault, he'll rather stupidy go and draw a big stripe through the paper inside the vault. By doing this, we can draw a big stripe through any paper in the vault.
Inside the vault there is a piece of paper (the DDR protection hardware registers) which controls the lock on the vault. By getting Mr.S to draw a big stripe through this piece of paper, we can unlock the vault and access the paper inside it as much as we want.
I may have some errors in this analogy due to misunderstanding the exploit BTW. And another thing, the vault DOES NOT represent flash0/the IPL, it represents kernel memory inside the PSP's RAM.
Its down to user error. If a downgrader has been coded properly then there is no risk. Always remember to be plugged into the AC Adaptor and ensure the PSP does not get turned off while its being flashed.Originally Posted by jake.99
I am happy that they found something but I still gotta wait a bit longr then 2.80ers as I have 2.81 :Argh:
well, I've always updated my psp like 1 week before a downgrader comes out but not this time, now I'm sticking with my 2.80 PSP until the downgrader comes!
NOW I understand :)Originally Posted by coolguy5678

Nice, i just got back from school, and now i am making a lua project, but this is so.... awesome.
Any chance of us seeing a 2.80 HEN?
There is a God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hoping for an early christmas present ^^
The flaw that enables this on 2.80 (as per Ryoko no Usagi's explanation) can also be seen in the code on 3.02 (and probably 3.03 too, I didn't check). Therefore the bug is still present at least up to 3.02, and should be usable in future (once we get a user-mode foothold on 2.81+).Originally Posted by PS2GT

I was looking at leaving the PSP homebrew after finishing the project for it, but now with possible kernal mode I plan on sticking to homebrew with 2.80 to see what happens with this kernal claim for 2.80.
I mainly interested in running pirate games because SONY whants me to do this. if SONY allowed homebrew I would buy games and run homebrew, by forcing upgrades to play the latest games and blocking homebrew, piracy is a easer option to play good games and still play homebrew.
So SONY, allow homebrew or piracy will increase
Yeh... Sony are real dumb, they shouldn't have released the patched versions too quick, like it was 3.01 then 02 then 03, they just made people really suspicious of an exploit...
Thanks for the confirmation FanniOriginally Posted by Fanjita
I can see a big rebel againt SONY were it herts the most, piracy and kernal homebrew big time.
I don't support piracy but will do just to rebel against SONY's ways of stopping creative people from being creative.
The first thing I will use kernal mode is for homebrew, as that is what I mainly do on the PSP and find user mode to restricted now.
I have been downloading all the firmwares from 2.71 just in case a exploit for kernal was found in one of the firmware and now have 3.03 on collection, be realy good to have 3.03 with kernal homebrew
my PSP is 2.80 as I find this quite sutible for me of what I use it for.
just hope that the exploit is protected with some sort of encryption to make SONY's job harder to find out what was done to exploit there firmware for kernal mode access

i thought the psp's ipl/flash/ram had changed in 3.0+
Birdman @ maxconsole wants 2.8 kmem's for comparison, so PM him a link to yours. It might help get a downgrader quicker!
Umm... okay i'll seewhat i can doOriginally Posted by Blake1
can we port something like this into the music folder and using the png image exploit instead of tiff exploit? i heard some team have been research for exploit in libpng.
Great job! I just knew there would be salvation for us poor 2.80ers^^. A downgrader would be hell of a present!.
Now, since I might be confronted with this decision, to which firmware should I downgrade? Only to 1.50 or to 2.71SE? Which on supports more or even every homebrew? Any andvantages in either one?
you have to go to 1.5 for se
