Default 3.03 OE-A Problems/Glitches

Hi
I'll start by thanking DaX for yet another amazing contribution to the homebrew community. I'm loving 3.03 OE-A. We can't thank you enough!

Anyways, I couldn't find a problems thread so thought i'd create one. Hopefully if we can list any problems and glitches people are having with this new custom firmware, maybe we could ask the lord God Dark_AleX to fix them in OE-B

Okay, for starters:
1: Region free still doesn't seem to work (I have a UK PSP with many US disk, and with all of them it either froze or there was an error reading the disk
2: Some PSX titles still don't work (although that's most likely Sony's emulator) but it would be great if he could find a work-around for some games
3: Some corrupt icons still remain

Not that I wanted to sound ungrateful! The firmware's great
Anyone feel free to voice their opinions about 3.03 OE-A here!

quite a few ps1 games run better but also some things have changed (e.g. ff7 menu graphic bugs fixed but the battle swirl is now broken)
this cannot be fixed by us, it's solely due to sony changing the ps1 emulator

Actually, a few converted games got corrupt in my case that previously weren't. I don't know whether to blame the rips, GUI, or new popstation.

Now before I get flamed. I do not post much on this forum, but I track all the activity of the PSP scene. In installing 3.03 OE-A I have noticed a couple of quirks.

The first being UMD Region free. With 3.02 OE-B I was getting the "disc region is not correct" error. With 3.03 OE-A I am getting "could not read disc error". Thus it seems there are still minor issues with the region free hack.

My PSP is Japanese original 1.00 FW. Movie tested was region 1 (US) Viva La Bam at a local Gamestop courtesy of my friend who works there.

The second thing I have noticed is that when selecting a picture to use as a wallpaper, Upon PSP shutdown, restart or exiting from game application. The wallpaper does not save it returns to normal XMB theme. And yes the setting to use wallpaper in XMB is set to use.

Not really sure if other people are having these issues just putting the info out to aid in troubleshooting/bug reporting.

By the way 3.03 OE-A installed over existing 3.02 OE-B.

fine release as usual from Dark_Alex.

Bottome line....this update was mainly aim'ed for improving PS1 emu

pointless to update if thats not what you want, like myself

Im hoping the NO-UMD featuer will be refined on the next update...instead of being untouched at all on this one

I think a few of the corrupt icons that remain aren't exactly homebrew, like maybe you have a folder without its "%" counterpart and that is the reason for the corrupt icons. Also, the recovery flasher and I believe that the autoboot homebrews show up as corrupt also, but those are the only ones that I have noticed.

Ya agreed. I was going to update then realized id lose all my customizations and dont feel like re flashing them. I have a 4gb memory stick so I could care less of being able to compress ps1 games.

Do you mean PGO(Psp Game Organizer)? I been looking for a way to hide my corrupt icons.

I have the JAP PSP-1000 and US Harry Potter Movie UMD and other US games UMD Killzone and GTA:LCS which work fine. They're both NTSC areas so maybe that's why but on 1.5 using UMD Emulator the US UMD would not work, its been on the D_A firmware that I got them to work. I've been using all US firmware EBOOT files since 1.5 which I downloaded using the network update option when my PSP was still 1.0 and no homebrew breakthrough was achieved yet.

DA said in a thread on Maxconsole that he did work on the No-UMD compatibility but forgot to put it in the readme before he released. Most haven't noticed much difference, however.

I'm having the same problem as AMUK. I can access the network settings but can't set anything. Wi-fi in every game I tested does not work. Portable TV is also missing for me.. Really wonder what's wrong.. I'm attempting to downgrade to 3.02oe-b and back to 3.03oe-a".. Hope it solves the problem..

Yes the same happen to me while messing with flash things in devhook, it completly delete my flash1... you only need to put again all the folders of flash 1 with File Assistant from a dump or if you only want the wallpaper just create vsh folder in flash1 then Theme folder and you can put wallpapers again remember flash1/vsh/theme/wallpaper.bmp
