Duke3D port: Sounds and Episode 4 fixed.
Been looking on improving the SADLY abandoned Duke Nukem 3D port originally released by Stereomike in some way, and it seems that sounds can definitively be fixed. What I did is extracting the DUKE3D.GRP file, converting all the .voc files to .wav files (tried different bitrates until I found the one that sounded normal), and the compiled it again on DUKE3D.GRP
The fact that Episode 4 crashes the game is because it has an intro movie on ANM format, which is what causes the shut down. Simply deleting it worked. Dont know about converting it into another format so it works.
Even that, the most important issue here is still not fixed: Loading games. Since my programing skills are limited, I can't do nothing on that, but since the DN3D full source code is out http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=2585, I wonder why noone continued the work, (and why Stereomike abandoned it). Im also sure that the sound and ANM cutscene problem can be fixed in some other "more efficient" way, just by messing with the source code. Btw, configuring keys also doesn't work (anyone fixed that in some way)?
So thats basically it, I encourage people to start working with porting DN3D, starting with making loadgame work. This works with on GP2X, why not would be possible on the PSP?
Thanks, and not let that project die.
