So shall I use Japanese 3.03 update to get the PSP to 3.03 but then use a normal American 1.50 eboot for the downgrade?

Also where can I get a Jap 3.03 update from, I checked PSPupdates but the one they host doesn't say which region it is.

Many Thanks

Reece
If you have the un patched GTA still and like the 3.03 downgrader go ahead and update to 3.03 and use it. Once you downgrade to 1.5 the region will be japan cause there is only one 1.5 update which is Jap since USA PSP's from launch came with 1.5.

And if your gonna go OE, region wont matter cause you can fake it in recovery mode.

The current on the guide is fine. Data corruption it very rare so don't worry but ill update the section with that one if need be. I saw some bricks in the comments so im gonna hold off for a bit.

So shall I just use the 1.50 eboot in the guide to downgrade it?

I used the 2.71 downgrader, followed through everything, pressed X after it finished installing, and my PSP has been black ever since. Did I fry my PSP or does it take a really long time, because as I'm writing this, it's been over half an hour.

Did you check if it was a TA-82 or higher motherboard? You probably ran the regular 2.71 downgrade on a TA-82.

Hi all, I just completed the 2.71 TA-082 downgrade and I followed the great instructions (Thank you very much). I have just one question. The last step: I didn't see any blue screen nor did I hit O at it. Instead, my psp shows the startup screen (with the date and time setup. Did I somehow do it wrong?? I know I have the funky motherboard, and I thought I followed the directions perfectly. Anyway, whenever i hit a button, the display shuts off for a little while, then shows the time and date setup screen (exactly where I left off) Did I already brick it or do I need to manually turn off my psp then turn it on again? I'm afraid to do so.

Great forum everyone, and I'm glad to be a part of it.

EDIT: After posting this, I read through what everyone else posted and found my answer. Sorry for the super newbie mistake. It was the brightness button! Is the the 1.5 firmware supposed to have a brightness setting that turns the screen off?

No its a IDstorage problem, because it was a TA-82 and you used the orginal 2.71 TA-82 downgrader. You can use the many IDstorage fixing application on dl.qj.net to fix your problem.

It can happen sometimes. Just keep trying to run it until you get the desired color screen.

How are you doing this so many times. I noticed you posted in another thread you bricked. You must not be follow the guides. Are you even checking if its TA-82 or not?

hi, just to make sure,

1. There's no downgrader for 2.00?
2. I'm downgrading 2.00, does that mean I must upgrade to 2.71 first then downgrade to 1.5?

this was originally 1.5, but got updated to 2.00 accidentally. Does it matter? I can still use the 2-00 downgrader right?

Default Root folder name?

Hello there. I'm hoping to go from 2.71 to 1.50 on a TA-081 psp. In the guide it says to extract the downgrader to the psps root (ms0:\) - I've got 2 folders, PSP and MP_ROOT - does it go in the latter, or do I need to change the folder's name first, or make a new folder?

Thanks in advance, great site by the way,

gsk

Hey ,
the psps root is the first folder of your memory card.
In the sense the windows u get right after u double click on Memeory Card(whatever_letter) in "my computer"

Ah I see. And wow, thanks for the quick reply

Also, just to double check, I do have a TA-081 if I have the ic6001 on the left, but nothing in the red area - http://www.pspmod.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9250

The pic in the guide here doesnt explicitly state that it is.
