But when I tried to run the program on my PSP it says: ------------------------------ The game could not be started. (80020148) ------------------------------ I tried a few times and I did a cold boot of PSP too, just in case. I originally tried by using the memory stick in the PC but I also tried with my Sony Walkman USB cable. But I get the same error no matter what. This is frustrating.

Just update to OE if you don't see any errors. If anything comes up you can always run it latter straight from OE.

I'd rather not update to OE unless I have to, because my goal is to go back to official firmware. Of course, if that's the only (or safest/best way) to do it then that's what I'll do. But I'd prefer to check for the problem and fix it in 1.50 if I can, because there are less steps and it seems simpler - at least to me, but what do I know! So, why am I getting that error? Do I have a problem? Or is the program incompatible with 1.50 or something.... thanks for your patience. |

Is it possible that this program is incompatible with 1.50? When I tried KeyChecker I got the same error - but was later told that it only runs in OE. If there is no easy way to check and/or fix my keys in 1.50 I guess I'll have to upgrade to OE to check/fix and then go all the way back. That should be fine, right? Would 3.02OE-A with the built in "flasher for recovery" be the easiest upgrade with the intention of going back? I'll just wait a bit to see if there is an easier way first... like I said I just want to get my keys restored and go back. Thanks again for your help and patience. |

You can update to 3.40 OE-A if you like Install Guide
From the sounds of things your keys seem like there fine. But once on OE run the program and if nothing comes up just stay on OE or let it fix the keys and stay on OE. Either way you will be going to OE.

![]() This is probably a stupid question, but why do you think the keys seem fine? I was under the impression that they are probably corrupted because I used the downgrader with "idstoragechange"? Once I am on OE, if my keys are either uncorrupted or fixed, I can still downgrade to 1.50 and then upgrade to any official firmware without any issues if I want to, right? Would I be as good as new? |

Cause you have not told me you have seen any basic errors yet of the PSP no functioning right. So it seems like its ok.
Once at OE I recommend staying there cause OE is a very nice custom firmware, but if you want you are correct downgrade to 1.5 then go to any official update you want. And all TA-82 - TA-86 PSP's have to run the idstoragechange when downgrading for the first time.

corrupted keys don't really interfere with the downgrading process.
They mostly affect things like the screen brightness button working incorrectly.

If everything is working fine in OE I will probably sit tight and leave well enough alone and enjoy the homebrew. It's probably stupid but what got me all concerned about key corruption was reading that the official firmwares after 3.30 check for corrupted keys because I figured there may be a game/feature/development which makes me want to go back. I was under the impression that there were "corruption free" downgraders now and that I probably mistakenly used an older version. I used the "Dark Alex Easy Downgrader by csfreakno1". Is there any way I could find out if that particular downgrader corrupts? :\ |

That downgrade does not try to corrupt it just happens on some PSP's cause its the first version released.
I also think you don't understand what 3.40 OE-A is, its 3.40 firmware but can run Homebrew among allot of other nice things. Pros and Cons of OE Once on OE and you run the fixer it will fix the issue "if there even is one" and you can always go back and install official firmware if you want. (Sony 3.30 +)

Like I said, I was more concerned with what effect key corruption would have on going legit - which I now know is a problem - so I want to make sure my keys are uncorrupt. I only wanted to go OE if I knew I could go back because it's not that big of a deal to me, but I did not read enough before I started. Obviously I would not have used that partuicular downgrader if I understood all of this stuff ahead of time. Regardless, at this point I just want to check to see the status of my keys and fix any corruption problems so that I can go legit if/when I want to. Even if it is stupid!

You're right on the money, I do not really understand this stuff. I'm sorry. That's why I appreciate the help and patience, I know it can be annoying talking to clueless noobs! ![]() I thought I had a good handle on it before I started, but then after I successfully downgraded I started reading all that stuff about key corruption and the problems some people have had and how Sony started locking out corrupted key users and I got all bogged down and thought I did the wrong thing for myself. I probably worry too much. Anyway, your reply is reassuring and your advice is appreciated. I think that's what I am going to do.

That seems like a ok way to go. Just makes sure not to run it if you have a TA-82.
I like going the manual way by updating to 2.71 then following the guide on page one but its up to you.

If you follow the directions you will be fine.
The 2.71 Guide in this thread does not need GTA LCS. But if you have it on hand you can use the downgrade you posted above.

PSP with firmware 3.10 - 3.40 can't run Homebrew or be downgraded.
There is no exploit to allow this.
