hi there brad,

i recently purchased a psp and learned that the firmware was 2.71.
so i downgraded to 1.5 then downloaded a game (need for speed and castlevania).

the bad news is the game could not be loaded. the screen shows that the game is corrupted.

is there really a problem with the game? or with the way i downgraded? or should i still upgrade to 3.03

Hey Brad. just to ask how do you get those nice pics of white PSPs with what should be on the screen on them?

I think its something vb_master a.k.a Vulpix has.

I'm guessing it's a template of a white PSP and you use something like SVCapture to get the screen only that wouldn't work since you are showing pics of the screen of a non-homebrewable PSP...

The PSD's I got from vb_master, I make the banner's now by myself but the PSD's and help with them came from vb_master.

I hope that someone can help me out with some problems.
My son and daughter both have a PSP with fw 2.82
The pink one has a mboard with code :IC1003(TA-082 or a TA-086)
The black one has code :IC6001(TA-079, -080, or -081)
Is there already a solution for an upgrade to 3.03, and
then a downgrade to 1.50?

What does HEN mean?

I have an original UMD of GTA :LCS.
How can I tell what version I have, and do I need this game
for up or downgrading the PSPfirmware

As you can see, i'm new with these kind of problems,
so don't hate me for asking stupid questions.

OK, the motherboards do not matter as all are now supported by downgraders, and to check if your version of LCS is one that will work put it in your PSP and if it says 2.0 update it is good, if it says 2.6 it is bad. Pleasse come back saying which and I will help you thereon.

Put the UMD in the PSP and scroll over to Game, you should see something along the lines of 2.00 or 2.60.

2.60 - Patched, can't downgrade with this.
2.00 - Un-patched, Can downgrade.

As for the TA question you don't need to worry about this with the 3.03 downgrade.

HEN = Homebrew Enabler

Follow the Guide on page one and you should be good to go.

GRRR Brad. I was going to give him that link if he had the good version... OK well anyway, if it comes with the 2.6 update you are going to have to search for one with the 2.0, and Blockbuster usually have the old one as they normally keep their first lot.

Yup a TA-82 can downgrade to 1.5 then update to a OE firmware fine.

Ya they mean the same.

Bricking is pretty much 0 if you follow the guides.

Hey guys. I haven't read through the entire thread, but what if I have a 2.50 TA-082 PSP, and instead of following the steps to upgrade to 2.71 and then down to 1.50, is it possible to just upgrade to 3.03 and use the GTA trick? (I know it would probably be slower, but read on.. )

What I mean is, can't I just use the same method for ALL versions (ie. upgrade to 3.03 and then downgrade) instead of poring through all the different types of methods and likely screwing up? Is this safe for all motherboard types and firmwares?

I know it's kind of a newbish question, but I just want to make sure, as I'll be downgrading a few PSPs in the near future. Thanks.

There all safe if you follow the directions and they usually all take the same amount of time. But if you have a un-pacthed GTA LCS on hand feel free to update straight to 3.03 then downgrade.

3.03 is the safest cause of the included checks but its up to you what way you wanna downgrade.

Need help with the 2.71 TA-82 guide.

Do i need to rename the file 1.50 EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP ?
then put it in the update folder.
TA-082 2.71 Downgrade Files
Everything in that zip file i copy to the memory stick?
Should i overwrite all???

hi all, just bought a new TA-82 psp, it came with v3.03OE-A, so can anyone please help me by teaching me how to upgrade it to 3.03OE-C or the new 3.40OE....
edit: do i have to downgrade to 1.5 first, or just flash it with 3.03OE-C/3.40OE?

my older psp has 3.03OE-C on it, i love the black32 themes do much...
can i use it in my new one?(if i suceed to update it to 3.40OE-A), i heard that i cant use back the icon....

You can now use all XMB customisations on all custom firmwares and as long as you are on a custom firmware already you can go directly to 3.40 OE-A as it formats you flash before installing, having to go back to 1.5 was a common misconception.

Hi guys.. I'm a psp newb with 2.7 fw. I just ran the downgrader using the info from this site and the psp screen turned green like the tutorial said. However, it's been over 10 min and it's still sitting here green. According to the tut it says the psp will reset itself. Does that mean it should actually reboot? I'm kinda scared to reboot unless I know for sure. Thanks

Make sure your on 2.71, if not update to it.

And if its sitting at the green screen just restart it and continue on with the guide. If you get a error like "Game Could not be started" re-run HEN.
