Default Squarez v0.6 Released - Sound!

Yep, this new quick release includes Sound F/X and Music. I created some very simple music using PSPKick, the first song is slow and the 2nd is more upbeat. These are only single pattern songs since that is all PSPKick allows and i'd rather hear the song when trying to make it than paste wavs together after the fact manually.

I'm not a music composer so don't expect too much as far as music for this release.

I hope to improve the sound effects later but since I got sound working and everyone's been asking for it, I had to release this version since i'm satisified with the sound enough to release it.

Check out http://www.globware.com/psphomebrew_squarez.php for the download.

Even though the package is the crappy show corrupt icon you can manually use a Hide Corrupt program and Squarez will still work fine. It doesn't care what the folder is called as long as the /sound folder is there.

I read your comments and the timers have been something which has bugged me for some time so I hope to fix them this next time around. I'm also working on ideas for a sound to signal when your almost out like I did with the freeze (slowing) by playing the sound when it starts and right at count 10.

I'm gonna test counting using true seconds and see what it looks like.

As for lifes and stuff i'm still putting a bunch of ideas together for a "Career" mode of some kind... not sure yet, just writting a bunch of ideas down on paper.

I beleive the best part of the game is you dont' have to think all the time...you can just play and listen to music, or whatever. Thats what i like. Sit here and play and listen to audio books. Also i didn't see a cfg file this time, but my highest score with the blockers is only 199!

Glad to see everyone is liking sound and the new blockers.

It's pretty funny how Squarez came about anyway... I was on my 2nd day of trying to figure out how FTPD worked since I wanted to make a client program and on my 2nd day of not really getting anywhere I was pretty pissed at wasting so much time (even though I did learn some) so I headed over to AddictingGames.com to let off some steam and after playing a few games, one called Ball, I decided I would get back to basics and do what I know... making 2D games.. heh.. and so Squarez was born.

I noticed a few people reporting problems about seeing 2 squarez icons and seeing the weird split screen when starting which I haven't been able to reproduce so i'm not sure exactly what it is. But i'll mess around alittle more and see if I can find out what's going on.

As someone else mentioned, if you cannot get it working using the included folders, you can always use the original EBOOT.PBP file and install yourself, then place the sound folder in the main folder with the larger EBOOT.PBP file.
