i've read a tutorial somewhere (i think it was at pspcrazy) that teached how to connect your psp to the internet (ad-hoc and infrastructure) only with a wireless card.
I've build a basic windows xp pc only for this (since i need to bridge the wireless and cable connection, and windows 2000 [my primary machine] doesn't have this kind of functions), but i can't get it to work. i can play games online with xlink fine, but i can't browse the web with any browser (wipeout, tenchi), connection always fails. (just for reference my network card is a linksys wmp54g and a 1.5 jp psp) I don't have any service pack installed, and i think that's the problem. I'll format the machine monday, re-install windows xp, install the service packs and try again. i'll report later if it worked. |

@MaD_mAnIaC: I wouldn't format the computer, just for this. Cuz I have already installed XP + SP2, and the whole WLAN technolygie is just crap. I think only with a USB Stick you can't access PSP Browsers.......just onlinegaming per tunneling-software.....
I'm really upset cuz of this, becaus I definitely won't buy a WLAN Router only because of my PSP. I know someone who alleged it would work, (he wrote a tutorial about this stuff [but in german ])....I tried it withoud success.Greetings from Europe Cubeikon |

Theres also a way that you can play infrastructure mode games with the usb adapter, theres a guide somwehre in the xlink site, i have done it myslef for those who doubt me. the downside is that it will only work on games that have both ad hoc and infrastructure
heres a little guide: get youre network card to recognize youre psp by starting an ad hoc game, after it connects leave the ad-hoc mode and go to the infrastructure mode, make a new connection and set everything to automatic, then connect through it, its not that hard, oh and another thing: make sure that internet sharing is on for youre internet connection, and thats it. this wont work for upgrading firmware, you cant test your connection either, i have tried this with twisted metal and the wipeout browser and they both worked fine. I found a software that alows your wifi card to turn into an ap but i cant find where to download it or buy it , theres only info on it, its called pctel softAP, tis would be really helpful because it would keep the network card on all the time, if anyone knows anything about this software or other software that are like this one then please pm me. edit: if anyone needs help or wants to talk about this then feel free to pm me. |

Just wanted to let you guys know that using a Wireless USB adaptor does work! I have one for quite a while now and I've been playing games online and surfing the net with my PSP using wipeout, and the other browsers just fine...
Here was my first post on it: http://www.psphacks.net/forums/viewt...&highlight=usb |

I'm glad that there are USB adapters that do work but my question was if there was a way for USB adapters without access point software to be able to do this. |

I've found a program that should serve our needs...
http://www.nat32.com/nat32e/htm/softap.htm the problem is that it was discontinued in may, and it's a bit hard to find [there's a file on emule called " segue softap " with 14,07mb, that may be the real deal, but sources are low] I don't know about the legality of downloading this software, but since it isn't for sale anymore i guess it isn't a big problem. I'll write a small guide if i get this to work [i don't have the file yet, and i don't know if my network card is compatible], but if someone manages to get this working before i do, please post info about your setup. |

wipeout browser has support for ad hoc but the official firmware doesnt. So i can connect in wipeout but not in tenchi browser. And i cant find that soft ap myself, i tried for like an hour the other day.

Oh! The Wipeout Browser works in Ad-Hoc Mode of my WLAN Dongle ?! That 'd be really great..... I tried it without success.
Mh....first I created a Game in Wipeout, and Windows found my PSP. Then I tried to connect to the download-portal but it didn't work (no access point foun or something)

ok well another thing that i forgot to mention is that youre psp should be set in chanel 1 and you have to give your usb card an ip adress, something like 192.168.0.1 and the submask will automatically turn ino, 255.255.255.0 After you have done this please try it again and now it should work
Also if you have the software that came with your wifi card it should have a profile for whatever connects to it so look for the one you get when you connect through ad-hoc and once you find it go to infrastructure on youre psp and connect trough a new connection it also helps to press connect on your computer at the same time. pm me if you got any problems. |
