Piracy Policy

1) Do not ask:
When an emulator, game or hack will be made or released, for a special emulator or game to be written/ported for you or for help with anything that is covered in the FAQ's or can be easily found by searching the forums and reading the stickied threads.

2) No Illegal Activity
Don't ask for ROMs, or other copyrighted material (SDK, Libraries, etc). Do not give the names of websites that host these files. Do not link to sites which sell modchips. Do not ask for someone to send you a PM with the link. Do not ask for an email with links. Additionally, we will not tolerate topics promoting or encouraging illegal activities (such as drug use, theft, vandalism, etc.) in order to protect our younger members.

3) No Piracy!
Here at QJ.net we have a strict "No Piracy" policy when it comes to game backups, current and previous generations, ISOs and ROMs, etc... We will not allow discussions detailing how to pirate games or how to get pirated games/loaders. Topics regarding piracy will be heavily moderated to prevent encouraging it's use and will be left to the moderators' discretion. You best bet is to avoid this topic entirely when posting.

If it's your first time using the emu, press L + R at the same time

I had tried that, but it just offers to exit the emulator. (I'm probably missing something...)

I like this guide, it helped me out a bit for figuring out the snes emu.
Question though...
Why is it just all nintendo emus?
Where's MMSPLUS or DGen?
What are your recommendations for those two?

Default NesterJ

I'd like to make a suggestion for this thread if I may:

NesterJ 2a - http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/psp/forthepsp.html

Installation's a snap. Toss it into the X:\PSP\GAME\ directory exactly as it is and the PSP'll find it no problem. ROMs can go anywhere as you can pick the location for them in the emulator. Controls may need reconfiguring, you may wanna consider upping the screen size, but otherwise, everything else can be left at the default settings for optimal preformance. It seems to run even the most complex ROMs such as Akumajou Densetsu (Japanese Castlevania III) and Wizards & Warriors III, and... ...it can open ZIP files and read the ROM inside. The sound quality is flawless, the graphics are emulated near-perfectly (only on later-dated ROMs like the ones mentioned do you find any issues, and even then, they're pretty minor), and it even supports saving SRAM and save states! This emulator is a winner all over the place! Much more than I can say for InfoNES... Heh heh. The only downside is that for all its mightiness, it weighs in at a hefty 5MBs to your memory card. For those of us that have the bottom-line 32MB SanDisk cards, that's kind of painful, but not extremely so.

Edit:
Okay, I was mistaken about the frame rate. For "newer" games especially where you seem to not only get a drop in FPS, but a tiny bit of lag between when you move the controls and when your game character moves... Anyway...the optimal settings are as follows:

Video: Normal
Wait for VSync: Off
Sound: 11025 Hz

Apparently, either NesterJ takes a bit of hardware power to work properly, or something, seeing as it doesn't give a constant 60 FPS even on the lowest settings... Maybe the PSP isn't as powerful as I'd assumed... But hey! NesterJ is no slouch, to be sure!

1. Make sure you're running a custom firmware such as 3.40 OE. I doubt sincerely that this works with any standard firmware and have reason to believe this is your problem.
2. Power down your PSP if it's on.
3. Hold the R button.
4. Power your PSP on.
5. You should get a very simple menu with MS-DOS-like fonts that allow you to fiddle with the various settings of your custom firmware.

It's pretty easy from there. If you haven't downgraded yet, read some of the guides linked in xpack's signature -- particularly the "ultimate downgrader guide" and the "upgrade to an OE guide".

I'm having the same issue as him too. I'm running 3.40 OE-A, The thing is I go to the memory card area on the menu and see the emulator. I click on it and I get "The Game Cannot Be Started. The Data Is Corrupted." When I look in the recovery menu the kernel is set to 1.50. When I enter USB mode on the PsP and go into F:\PSP I see that I have a GAME271 and a GAME folder. All my homebrew is inserted in the GAME folder. Any other type of hombrew works except my SNESPSP_TYL ME, RIN emulators. When I was running 1.50 they worked fine. Anyone have any input on this? Thanks

Try reinstalling the custom firmware you are on or redownload gpSP.

All my homebrew is inserted in the GAME folder. Any other type of hombrew works except my SNESPSP_TYL ME, RIN emulators. When I was running 1.50 they worked fine. Anyone have any input on this? Thanks
Drop all Hombrew into GAME150. It will work from just normal GAME but you need to set your kernel to 1.5 in recovery mode.

Note: OE/M33 Custom Firmware User's set kernel to 1.5 in Recovery Mode
To go about doing this do a full restart of the PSP (Hold Power Button up for 10 seconds) Then on restart hold the R-trigger, Scroll down to configuration and set kernel to 1.5

Anyways, is there a WORKING gba emulator?
Make sure you have the GBA BIOS. Also note we can't link you to these files.

Okay I renamed my GAME folder to GAME150 and now when I go to memory card on the PsP it says there are no games. But If I leave the name at GAME everything shows And the Kernel is set to 1.50.
