I know there are other places with this info but I had to modify it to get it to work so here is my version:
EDIT: when i made this post irshell 4.9 was the current version, now there is 5.0.
IRshell 4.91 update for Slim psp only
Nethost 2.1 for Windows
Nethost 2.1 for Linux
.mp4 Streaming Fix
NEW: Irshell update 4.92
These instructions are tested and written by me using XP (should be basically the same for linux) and slim psp running 5.00m33-6 .
Extract the nethost files to the folder you want to share on PC. Right click on the nethost executable choose to make shortcut. Right click the shortcut and goto properties and add
-r -p 7513 -l password
to the end of the executable command line (after -p is port# and -r is read-only and thats the letter -L and up to 8 characters for password):look below for example
nethostfs.exe -r -p 7513 -l password
Next you need to configure your router. Login to router. Find the port forwarding page(cant help on this because not all router are the same). Open ports 7513 thru 7516(nethost requires multiple ports) and choose TCP for these ports. UDP is not wanted. If you want to choose a custom set of ports just choose any 4 consecutive ports and later in irshell options you change the port to the first of this custom range.
Find your WAN ip by going here: IP Finder
Now you are ready for the psp portion. Start up irshell 3.xx. First run the patch to btcnfpatch.prx. It is located in ms0:\IRSHELL\PATCH\5.00\ Now go into the configuration menu. Change the nethost password to whatever password you chose(8 character limit). The default port is 7513 and that is what we will be using in this tutorial. Set the Nethost IP/Name (AP) to the IP gained above. Also, remember to set the Nethost/UMD Compatibility option to maximum. Save the settings
Now there are several ways of activating the nethost mode easily. you can navigate to irshell root and choose nethost from the file browser or you can hold L and press analog down from anywhere in irshell it will activate but you will still have to browse to the nethost folder in file browser after using the L analog down shortcut. Now you can access mp3, iso, cso, jpg, png, cbz, cbr, pdf, and other file formats compatible with irshell over the net.
I hope I didn't forget anything. Oh one more thing, you may need to add nethost.exe to your firewall exceptions. If you are using the built in windows firewall press Unblock when the firewall message pops up.
Also something you might want to know. At any time, except during times when writing to memstick, you can exit the current game/app by press combo HOME + SQUARE. This is how I exit everything because it is much faster. I hope you enjoy this awesome application and give thanks to Ahman of http://irshell.org
