Hi guys,
I've been very much out of the loop of the psp homebrew world for the last 2-3 years or so, to put it simply the last i checked version 3.00 had just come out and i'd just successfully downgraded my 2.80 psp to 1.50 anyway im planning on buying a psp again this xmas but im going to get the psp 3000 one of the coloured ones red, blue, purple etc and was wondering if its possible to downgrade and/or install custom firmware on these psps and if so how should i go about it. I've tried researching myself but just ran into a load of info about pandora batterys and tiff hacks etc its pretty mind boggling. Thanks in advance |

PSP 3000's and newer versions of psp 2000 can be temporarily hacked only if the firmware is 5.03 and below.
I said temporary, coz the hack will remain as long as the psp is turned on...The hack will be lost of the psp is shut down completely.. But it can be hacked back in a few minutes. The only way to check if the firmware is 5.03 or below is opening the box and checking the firmware urself. Most of the new 3000 packs are shipping with ofw 5.50 or above. U have to be really lucky to get a hackable one. U can upgrade ur psp 1000 to 5.50 GEN D-2, which is the latest cfw available...Check out this Guide for updating ur firmware: [GUIDE] The Ultimate CFW Installation Guide |

Exactly what iamafreak said.
![]() mussy, if you want to buy a PSP-3k. I am sure it won't have 5.03 OFW or below. Sony is really fighting in through piracy. So a chance of getting a hackable one is 1%-5%. If you want to update your PSP-1k to the latest DA firmware then update to 5.00 M33-6. I am sure that you want to play the new games easily, so update to 5.50 GEN-D2. You can however play new games on 5.00 M33-6, but not as good as 5.50 GEN-D2.
