Default Upgrading to 5.50 Gen-D2 - PSP switches off!

I've had a search around & haven't come up with anything so hopefully someone can help.

Trying to update a PSP (phat) running 3.80 M33-5 to 5.50 Gen-D2 using 'The ultimate CFW installation guide' (new method).

Have copied everything into the relevant directories, but when running the updater, after it goes through a few things it says 'Now load all modules from updater'........then the PSP switches off.

Any clues?

Thanks.

did you install gen-d first, do that if you didnt. If you did try making your ms into a xgen pandora, that option is in the gen-d installer, then use a pandoras battery.

Do I need to install Gen A, B & C before D (ie the 'manual' method) or can I go straight to D.....then D-2?

you can go straight to gen-d, then use the quick updater for gen-d2.

That didn't work............neither did making an Xgen Pandora.

So.........plan B..........I put 5.00 M33-6 on & it worked a dream, then installed 5.50 Gen-D2, along with the fix (ie what I wanted to do in the first place).........and IT WORKED!!

Thanks for your help.

[SOLVED]
had the same problem with my girlfriend's psp even tho the update worked fine on mine.

turns out the difference is in the firmware versions of our psps - i found this posted on afterdawn:
3.52 M33-4 Freezes when you press X to Enter at the main screen
3.71 M33-4 Shuts down shortly after "Now load all modules from UPDATER"
3.90 M33-3 Shuts down shortly after "Now load all modules from UPDATER"
4.01 M33-2 Works
5.00 M33-6 Works
5.02 GEN A Works

so if you're on one of the freezing version numbers, update to at least 4.01 m33-2 first then run the gen-d installer and bob's your uncle.

credit goes to wingedpig at afterdawn for posting this.
