How about tabs?

So there I was this day playing the amasing PSPGenesis when I thought to mysel "What a nice interface. Those tabs do come handy!". One thing led to another and after a while I had another idea for the eboot loader: tabs.

With more and more progress the menu screen will become full of stuff and not look as nice as now, and since Fanjita is planing to incorporate the wi-fi feature in the future release I guess it would be nice. Also it would alow adding a config (example: cpu clock), credits (more detailed), help, and... file management (sorry I couldn't resist :o ... would love this).

The first time I posted I admit I wasn't aware I couldn't make devs requests, but somebody told that sugestions wouldn't harm, so I hope I'm not going against the rules...

Here are some images of what I think it could look like (also added the management one...). So if Fanjita, Calum, any other dev or just anyone curious wants to see what I thought just download (don't be too harsh on the image quality... not a graphic artist). That is a pretty nice idea...and who doesn't love tabs? I mean, isn't that what the Xbox360 interface is getting rave reviews over?

Who knows, they only sold like 6 lol. 2k on eBay wtf.

Maybe Fanjita could get some help from the guy who makes PSPGen to help him. I mean, tabs would make it perfect, have one for USB, another for FileManager, a Config, Credits, and one to actually launch programs.

Guess this didn't get as much atention as I hoped it would... Could have posted It in that "what would be gr8" thred but it became more "what app do you want working and who wants umdemulator?"not as much as stuff for the loader itself...

Anyways, having 1.5 capabilities would be great and I'm not here to judge, so here is an image of what I think it could look like the eboot loader tab (I heard Calum is trying to get te icons like we see in the game folder)

i think its a great idea, but is it possible? I really miss the cool menu icons and music assosiated to homebrew eboots, and I think it would be great to try and simulate the feel of 1.5 this way using the same information from the 1.0 style eboot, but is it possible?

Calum has already said that support for each EBOOT image as they were seen in 1.5 has already been added to the upcoming 0.9 Loader! Yessss

Does that mean a emu w/o an icon will show up as a corrupted file? :/

ya I miss the old Icons and music to. I had so many cool ones especially for NeoGeoCD, SNES, NES, and Sega Genesis.

Really we're going to have real icons in the next release?! That's great!!

I always thought we (2.0 users) would use different images (maybe an ICON0.png inside the folder) other than the icons inside the eboot.

Looks like we´re one step closer to having perfect homebrew (like in 1.0 and 1.5) in 2.0!!!

Actually its currently in the menuloader code for v0.85, just havnt got round to coding the code to show png images from the memory ;)
Infact i will get round to coding that this weekend, and may even release the menu then, but i will prolly wait for fanjita to tell me v0.9 is out and i will send it him to release it in a bundle

the tabs idea is good, u r right about the space being used up on the loader's menu if fanjita decides to add extra apps and features.
btw. the "what would be gr8..." thread is mine, so feel free to add any suggestions like this 1 to that thread.

Yeah, I already posted there saying I would like basic file management. Guess I will be adding the tabs... I think there sould be a pinned and stickied thread for suggestions...

Your thread is great but as I said I only posted a different one because people are just saying there which homebrew they want to see working in the next release... So thats why I decided to start this one.

If it look's that cool then i would say YEAH! lol.
That's a great idea, I Love the GFX and it give's you the
feeling as you where in the PSP's OS Already lol.

Adding an image did seem to atract more atention to the thread (guess I'll be doing that from now on). Just hope the devs also like this... But at least it's now sure were having icons in 0.9 so thats great. Nice one Calum :mrgreen:

I agree, the tabs are a nice idea.

At this point in time, I'm tending to keep my hands off the menu - it's been open-sourced, and I'm hoping that the community will continue to develop it and expand it.

If that never really happens, then I might do some work on it myself - but right now, I'm focussing on the core loader engine and trying to get that as close to perfection as possible, which doesn't leave me much time for anything else.

Yeah I understand that. There is still much to do and the wi-fi and usb doors seem to be opening for 2.0 :)

Hope someone wil be interested and develop this idea. Calum already posted so I think he is aware, but I guess he'd welcome cooperation from other coders and members of the community. Maybe it'll be possible for the big 1.0 (that promises to be a big release). Looking forward for 0.9 Fanjita :icon_cool

Menu Loader Images

I think it'd be nice if we could incopirate something like OSS but for 2.0 with eboot loader.
Think about it, you can press home and exit out of a game back to the eboot os and then listen to music, watch a movie or something.
