Default Fanjita I think I found something important!!!

I don't know if anyone found this already because there has been a huge rush in this forum lately.

I have found the reason why we have certain problems!

I had all the eLoader files opened in a hex editor to make a self contained version to myself (to use later maybe) when I saw something and it was so simple!

The reason my config didn't solve things like strange key behaviour was because the config wasn't being read!!! In the l_095.bin we had something like "ms0:/psp/eloader/loader095GTA.cfg"!!! Not just loader095.cfg as the file!

So when I renamed the loader095.cfg file as loader095GTA.cfg it solved some problems in my 2.0 tiff exploit loader. This may also improve stability with GTA exploit users!

    Edit:

The patch is out! Find it at Fanjita's Place!

It solved the strange key issue in NesterJ and PSPGBA (though I still can't launch roms...). Lua launches but I get an error about no script or whatever... I'll play around with the Lua config part.

Just rename the config file you have in the eloader folder as I wrote above :)

Yeah... thats a strange bug of some sort... not being able to read the config correctly. I really like it, makes it a lot more convenient

Also, would it help if we set...

    # Clear RAM after running menu?
    clearRAMaftermenu=N

    # Clear RAM before the loader exits?
    clearRAMonExit=N

    ... to Y?

Espresso I'm trying to find the older Uber Sticky of the 2.0 EBOOT Loader forum. It had helpfull info.

I also hope someone checks on this subject or warns Fanjita in any way (maybe a mod?) so he can confirm this before this post gets lost in all this help request and working/non-working eboots that are poping almost all the time now...

I do think that all users here can try and confirm since I see no danger coming from this (no more than using the loader as is in the site). I mean the loader didn't even read the cfg file until now and that was the bug.

I tested myself but it would be good to know if it works to others...

    Edit:

The Uber Sticky is gone... That sucks! I Hope Fanjita or Ditlew will start a new one soon to avoid all this posting rage...

    Unhappy No Dice

Or, instead of dice, feel free to use any word or series of words relating to the phrase "failure to realize my hopes and dreams".

But first, please tell me if I did this right:
F Is my PSP Drive (Duh)

    F:/PSP/eloader/loader095.cfg

    Changed the loader095.cfg to loader095GTA.cfg

Nothing changed for me...It still boots up correctly then fails to respond to any commands for a random amount of time then shuts off.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention of course that this is NOT TIFF method.

This is GTA method, so for all you who were hoping it might work, as far as my limited testing has shown this isn't What The Doctor Ordered. Then again, if I didn't do it correctly this post will self-destruct in 5 seconds.

Possibly a very good find, ill try this now, could get my GBA working properly

    Edit:

Renamed the file to eloader095GTA.cfg however this only seemed to make my GBx Emulators and all other emulators to crash when loading any roms.

ie. Had a detremental effect for me.

starnge, a possible reason could perhaps be the install method of eLoader? i used windows installer, what method did you guys use? (although shouldn't really have any effect)

    Edit:

I find strange you now have crash problems in the emus... Maybe some general setting is causing that... I didn't have the same problem though... The emus that crash are the same as before, ScummVM 0.8.2 and NeoCDPSP 0.9.1... A special config may fix it now though...

Well this will only help if you have the right config for each app... It won't solve all probs by itself and I still can't launch GBA roms... I don't have key issues anymore though and I could change the menu with Choice (it puzzled me why I couldn't)...

You actually use ms0:/ and not your memory stuck driver in the config

Some of the specific eboot look the same from the 0.9 config... So if you have now probs you hadn't before I think they'll go away if you delete that specific part.

Now you can play around with the eboot signature reader and problematic eboots and it may make a big difference for some apps...

By itself it'll only help in stuff solved by the general settings (and some app settings) and it lets you now also use Choice if you specify the path in the menu part of the config

Still waiting for Fanjita also... Give some of those a try :)

Coincidentally we also spotted this independently just now, while trying to work out why the TIFF version is less stable than it was.

There were one or 2 other issues that we turned up as well, so we'll release a patch tonight after some further testing.

I guess these bugs are what you get when someone leaks the estimated release time, creating a huge amount of pressure to release on time, despite various last-minute hitches. :Argh:

This is why we don't normally publicise release schedules - then there's no pressure to avoid changing them when something goes wrong.

We spent a LOT of time on Monday night frantically patching up a major last-minute bug, and because of all the hype whipped up by the information leak, we weren't able to retest as much as we would have liked.

Sounds cool Fanjita, keep up the good work mate. Dont let people bully you and the rest of the crew into fast releases. I would rather have quality than something that is rushed.

Thanks for the new loader btw. I can now play Metal Slug on NeoGeo CD!!! W00T <3
