nice one mate.
do you know if there would be anyway to make a sort of virtual harddrive for this emulator.
i have noticed that some games require i think it was 1mb to get them to run.

E-UAE 0.8.28 has support for CD and Hardrive. CD doesn't make much sense on the PSP but harddrive does. Unfortunately besides sound this is another area where the specific implementation for the PSP is incomplete.
I doubt that it would be very difficult to implement it though and if someone would volunteer to do that part it would be great.
My biggest problem is time and getting a sufficiant understanding of the E-UAE code.
Good going mate. Thanks for taking up the mantle to continue with the Amiga Emulator.
Amiga Emulators are notoriously hard to do...and unfortunately it may take a whole rewrite to get any kind of speed increase.
thats cool Ric, so there will be a better psp uae in the future? PSP-uae41.1 runs quite well my biggest complain is the stuttering sounds. u think u can improve the sounds at least? I guess full screen option is not possible huh?
Do u think ur version will support xenon2? its one of the few games i cant get running.
Maybe for persons who are interested.
I can run the following games on pspuea with frameskip 0 and they run smooth:
Shadow of the beast 2
Shadow of the beast 3
Toki
Battle Chess
Uridium 2
Alien breed special edition
Marble madness
Xenon
Games who wont run and give software error:
Shadow of the beast 1
Xenon 2
Battle chess 2
Yesterday I got sound working on the E-UAE 0.8.28 based codebase so the basics are working now. I still cant get Turrican II to run and as before I dont see any speed improvements.
I will investigate what options exist for improving the speed of e-uae. The JIT is x86 only so that is not an option. Unless I find some way to improve the speed of the emulator I doubt it will be worth to release a new version.
Any ideas are appreciated.
So u mean the sound is not stuttering anymore? well the sound was my biggest complaint since its makes the mood of the games. I have no complaints about the speed. The games are quite playable in 0 fps.
I even finished toki with 0fps
No it just means that sound works as before. Basically what I have done so far is just bring the emulator to the latest e-uae codebase. For possible improvement you can look at the e-uae changes from 0.8.22 to 0.8.28.
hey Ric, its nice to hear that you're trying to improve this emulator.
had you consider asking around on any of the Amiga forums?
Toni Wilen the author of winUAE is a very friendly guy, and might be able to help you find some solutions for tailoring e-uae code to different system, as might many of the other Amiga bods and boffins who frequent such forums.
http://eab.abime.net/ is a fantastic board for such things, although i understand you'll need feedback / tips etc from the guys on forums such as this who know all about writing for the psp specificly.
hope you have some luck getting some more speed out of the emulator, or even just adding HDF / kickstart select support would be fantastic... since this could at least improve load times.
feel free to ask if you want a beta tester (which i reckon you dont! but i have to offer at least)
--- edit: i have a massive stack of auto-booting HDF files which i use with winUAE-Kaillera for online gaming, just let me know if you want any or would like a link to download them from, should you need them for testing any HDF development etc.
also, if you want web-space to host the program on and to post any info, i'll happily provide it for you. lack of pspUAE support is imho a real downer considering how great the program is.
The PSP willl struggle to emulate an Amiga at full speed using the E-UAE source. Obviously JIT would help but UAE was never designed soley with speed in mind, it's all about compatibility.
'Tis a shame though really as I love my Amiga and playing Turrican II at 50FPS with music blasting would be a dream come true.
Ric - keep up the good work anyways. :)
