Choice+ 1.0.8 Preview Due Soon (Dual eLoader or EBOOT Loader Support)
This is nothink to add, just a very simple one line of code, so for those that are using an older eboot loader it will be supported with this version.


Choice+ cutdown versions

Choice+ mini for 2.6 and others (EBOOT,USB,Backdrop Selector, Batery Level) replaces lite
Choice+ basic for 2.6 and others (EBOOT,USB,TGA Backdrop File, Battery Level)
Choice+ micro for 2.6 and others (EBOOT, Backdrop Built In)

All this can be done due the fact that Choice+ is written in C++ and these cut down versions just get extracted from the main Choice+ project, so they is no time involved in writting these it is all the same code used in Choice+

These small ones will help in finding issues that crop as these will narow things down.

Also work on Choice+ eXtream has started, this will be an OS like menu, with full filemanagment with drag & drop, if you have looked at the emulator resorces you will see that these are file links and are part of the eXtream project, so work on Choice+ is using some of eXtream code

File formats that will be worked on will be PNG TGA XIM BMP MP3 etc

I need to know if the preview 2 for 1.0.8 is working yet on 2.6

i hav choice 1.0.8 preview 2 on my 2.1 psp and it is the only save on my ms. when i load up gta there is a green screen, the ms light flashes, then it turns off. wat is wrong? preview 1 worked fine for me, plz help.

They is a small bug you are best going back to the last one. I can email you the previous one if you need it.

I am replacing the old built in font data with a new compacked version

The previous one took 24320Bytes 23.75K
the new one is 7.5K in size and is the same data, it has not been compressed, it has been compacted and extra data added.

This is to address the status issue and the freezing of the PSP.

I will have to download them my self as I didn't get any email from you, seems that until my xart email is back up and running, sending emails to me may not get threw.

I am delaying the release of Choice 1.0.8 and may end up becoming 1.1 as it would reflect more acurate how much it has been changed.

if it dose become 1.1 they will be a 1.0.8, but it it will not having the luaplayer selection.

so the luaplayer will be disabled as default in 1.0.8, so if it dose work for some it can be renabled.

Choice+ code is being scraped, replacing C++ with C, C is proven to be more relyable.

The transition from C++ to C is going smooth, it is giving me 100% relyability up to now, it seems that C++ dosen't work well on the PSP, it is down to the compiler for the PSP, it dose not yet fully support C++ and any one developing in C++ for the PSP should think about using C

I still have the C++ classes for graphics, imges & text to be release as open source, and have them in C library functions as well, so when I release some of the source code i will be releasing in C & C++

can you the email the choice.app folder? and hav u downloaded the stuff off rapidshare yet?

I have downloaded the file too look at after I have Choice+ fully working, just finishing of the new text library and it is working great in C, so C++ has been the main problem, the status will flicker no more with the new text library

Choice+ Preview 3 will not be long now, the transition to C from C++ coding is finished and just doing some final touching up of the status screen.

It is far more relyable and quick and has a new text engine that is very otimized for speed and flexibil, eg, to be able to change the font style with your own, including diferant size fonts

sounds like ur making some good progress :)
just one thing, the other day wen choice wasnt workin 4 me, i tried emenu 0.1 final. although it is nower near as good as choice, the 1 feature i do like is 'slumber mode' which clocks the psp to 1MHz and blanks the screen when you set the psp to hold in the emenu (doznt work while running homebrew) is there anyway you could put a feature like this in choice? thx

Yes, in fact I have allready added the a bility for that some time, I was planning to introduce an automatic power saving mode.

I have just not enabled it yet as was not sure if I should go to a manual power saving, so the code is there to have this option if you like me to enable it.

They are in fact all kinds of things in that have not yet been enabled.

one of the other things is a screen saver, then powers down.
also shutdown scedual.

this of cause is code from Choice eXstreme.

The eboot menu in Choice+ is going to use the desktop from eXtreme, emulators can execute the eboots fine but the old menu has just gotten too complex and i have desided to totaly start making Choice+ into Choice eXstreme.

kl can u enable manual power saving, so u push the hold switch or select or watever and it puts it into the power save mode like in emenu? can u enable this and enable the auto powersave as well but i dont think automatic shutdown is a good idea though. thx and will the next preview b called choice xtreme?

I will enable power saving mode as soon as other issues are solved.

The system has removed some build testers that have not given any feedback to me, this is done automatic and if you email to become a build testers you will be ignored by the system, as it now marked you as zero feedback status.

I have no controll over this it was setup to save me time with managing build testers emails.

Actually, I did not email to become a build tester and I was never a build tester (an offficial one , that is) before. Anyway, I guess things are mixed up. My email was sent to [email protected]. Thanks.

due to change of plans they will be no more Choice after 1.5

1.0.8 is getting closer to being finished and 1.1 will foloow after it that will allow you to change the fonts.

Choice micro,mini,basic will still be done.

Choice+ will be replaced by somethink you have all been after for a long time on the 2.00 or later firmware. all will be revealed near to its release

god, youve changed your focus on things so many times xart...

Still working on Choice+, but also working on a new project as Choice+ is growing and will be replaced with a new app.

and 1.5 will be for next year, so it wil be a long time before it is no longer developed on just an insite of what has been planed.

Also companys like apple have change there plans now and again, like PowerPC G5 to Intel and iPod having Video where jobs was insistant that it would never have video, things change in the world and you have to look at what the users whant and meet there demand as best as you can.

So don't worry about making skins for Choice thinking it might disopere over night, it has 1 year at least to go and will become open source long before that, thats a promiss.

Choice+ 1.0.8 will be using a new menu for the game section as the old one is causing it to become unstable, it will use the menu from Select that is far more rebust and powerfull than the the old one that Choice+ 1.0.7 has.

Select is under development still and will be out soon as posible, and soon as a BETA stage is near more infomation will be given out about Select.

1.0.8 is getting its game menu change for this reason, and will be tested on 2.6

That sucks :( It loses the whole functionaility if you put in that analog mouse. The original way was so nice....

well choice+ was meant for the 2.01+ firmware so if it wouldn't work on 2.6 that would suck more, however i did like old style A LOT too but hey, im sure this will b great too.

The tga files and other file will be put into a resource file

This is because the PSP can't handle too many file access, the duo memory stick is just not quick enought and has to be done all in one go.
