To change icons: Name the file the same ass the folder/file but and a $ in the begginin and delete the ".TGA" (you have to enable it on windows).

To make Icons just create a tga 48x48 32bit file thats 24bit + 8bit alpha channel
rename it to $PHOTO,Delete the ".tga" and you will see that for that folder your icon gets used
Don't have to be 48x48, could be 128x128 if you have one folder showing and whanted a big icon in the middle of the screen about what that folder has in it

New tester here. Just tried the Shell. Looks Beautiful but after a good 39 seconds " crash " Very nice Release Xart But still got a few kinks to work out. :)
Don't worry Xart said that he fixed something but he didn't gave us a new eboot yet.
BTW : I can't delete a full folder.
And can't enter the MUSIC folder. (maybe because it's 600mb?)
Creating Links!
1.6.3a fixes this issue with some eboot files, at the moment I have not released it as I am working on 1.7.0a and may deside to move strait to 1.7.0a, but for some reson fails to work unless I use 1.6.2a and then replace the eboot when running with USB with 1.7.0a and reboot Choice eXtreme, then It works fine, so I may be releasing 1.6.3a for now if caun't fix it soon.
you can create a link manualy with a computer with a text editor, all that you do is on one line give the absolute path & filename of the eboot
say ms0:/psp/game/somegame/eboot.pbp
and name the text file starting with ~
eg.
~Alian Attack
and just place it on the desktop or in favourites folder or any other location you like and it will work.

You have too many files there It's the number, not the size). Use subfolders (like a folder for an artits/artist/genre or whatever).
Also as a curiosity try puting in there like lots of small files ( like more than 20) vs I big file that total the size of all the small ones. The small ones will take more space then the big one (see the properties... the size in disk is way more than the size it says it is).
I don't think hebrew chars are supported... At least some more common chars used in other languages (portuguese, spanish german, something like vowel with ~,^,´,`,¨, or ç,ñ...). It doesn't even support my real name... Try creating a text file named cão.txt (dog) then browse that dir. It'll crash
I tried with 160 images in one folder. Double clicked like 5 minutes ago and the folder hasn't opened yet... Then again it just crashed... The way xChoice lists the files in the dirs has limitation... Like not only the name of the file, but the time you put it in the MS will determine it's position...

Nice shell, but before you add anymore to it you should sort out the crashes that happen quite frequently.

You're not trying hard enough to make it crash ;)
1- Press triangle over the backdrop (that is over nothing). In 2.0 tiff is fine but I read in GTA crashes.
2- Open a folder with a huge amount of files. I tried 160 images.
3- Put a file/folder anywhere with unsupported chars. Name it "Cão", "Começo", "Évora" or whatever with ç,ñ or any vowel with ~,^,´,`,¨...Some others may also not be supported.
4- Changing backdrop/font and leaving the folder pressing O also crashes my PSP a lot...
But yes XArt is solving these :)
Also some smaller issues:
1- The transparent part of an image still count as the image when you click over it... It shouldn't count as anything...
3- Pointer will have hickups (move, stop, move, stop...) sometimes after I exit an app or do some operations... I think I saw it in the latest release (not sure). Defenitly more stable.
4- Error in file sizes.The size of big files is wrong (always in bytes and not correct).
5- When the pointer is over a file with a big name in a folder that has lots of files (enough for multiple pages), the name will be over the page number. Maybe you could use "..." and not display the whole file name.
6- Strange behaviour when you click a link that points to a non existing path (saw this because I forgot to update some links). Maybe add a warning to display when we do this.
7- Seems like when you are in the root of the MS and press O, Choice will still try to go to a parent dir (at least the MS light flashes).
But I already posted all these before. Can only wait fo when XArt solves them.
Some of the crashes are actualy caused by the PSP itself it is not very good with memory card access, too many freezes it, it just caunt cope and can cause a eboot to freez up when trying to load it, gives you black white blue greeny screens sometimes,
I found if I create some dummy code it gets it working, make no logical sence, I just put it down to a side effect of the exploit, using an exploit to execute code is never going to give you 100% reliability
One good example of this is if you have a 2.00 and use tiff exploit, it sometimes freezes, but the next time it is fine
Add another one... I now have 35 folders in the game folder and 4 pages. It should be only three since each page can have 12 and I have 36 icons (the 35 folders+desktop icon).

Fixes double click on desktop then move over a eboot and it executes fix, no longer dose that, it was a bug dave (Apple's old 2001 Hall old advert for 2000 bug that was never there, we new it we just desided to get money for nothink)
Yes it's an eboot :dry: The actual xChoice shell file is the eboot.pbp in the shell folder. All the others are gfx, links, files with paths... And I'd expect simply a new eboot this time (well at least until 1.7.0a) since I assume all the rest remains the same.Zitat:

It crashed when I try to open the game folder... Then again it crashes when I press O...

Only folders I can open are the Backdrops and Fonts... And it'll crash when I press O to leave them (has in all previous builds).
Any other folder will make it crash... Only can launch the apps I have links for...
I could add sleep mode, but at the moment i whant to leave it out untill all theses little bugs are squashed

great shell by the way, was starting to think the old emenu needed a facelift.

Place the GenericFolder.xim into shell/resources folder, take off the $, it is a mistake and shouldn't have a $
$ are only neede outside of resources folder.
they is no $Duo.xim just $Duo
