If any one is wondering why they has been no updates for a while now, it is due to the fact that I don't have much time now for the project at the moment. It is still getting worked on just at a slower pace.

And because everyone downgraded...? ;)
Not everyone... And I think he is also going to try and work on XChoice as a manager so that 1.5 has a reason for it too.
take your time i wouldn't care if you took 2 months, since i don't have my PSP's a semi brick :P, really miss this :(
Xart ! Did you see that?
http://pspupdates.qj.net/Great-new-3...g/49/aid/59434
I don't see the need, if good quality 3D games is what you whant then paying £39 fo a comercial game is very good low price and I see the future going 2D, people on the move with small devices like mobiles and ipods whant to just play simple 2D games as 3D is just too much and what I have heard a lot is I will get a 360 or PS3 for 3D games as PSP just too small for a propper 3D game, 2D yes, like Card games, chess etc.
It is good that 3D engine is developed for the PSP for homebrew but personaly I can only see a small number of gamers whanting it, emulators are big can only mean one thing, people still like the old classics as they are fun and enjoyable to play with
OKAY,what about Xchoice Xart? Any news?
Only that file managment is getting striped out of the desktop, and Cabinet will handle the files and folders side of things, making the desktop into a organizer for homebrew, so the desktop will be more less complete now and work will be done on cabinet
Choice eXtreme will consits of Desktop, Cabinet & Gallery
Source code will be getting posted before any Choice eXtreme updated.
nice to hear its going open source
http://forums.qj.net/psp-development-forum/60475-xart-software-kit.html#post882781
for anyone interested in using some of the functions used in Choice eXtreme.
the source code for the actual projects them self remain closed source, the library of functions used to create the projects are the only parts that is open source
please note that the functions are prity much in the early stage and a lot can be done still to fully optomize them for speed
Now that you have released the source we can look forward to a newer version right... can't wait!
Sorry a update will not happen, it seems that a lot of PSP users are using 1.5 and I am now on 2.80, the PSP has no future, DS has remain #1 and I have desided to leave homebrew on the PSP and look at platforms that are worth developing for.
Mac OS X & iPod is the future.
and Webware JavaScript Dynamic XHTLM Flash
I mainly got the PSP to play games, and ended up developing all the time, so I desided to go back to the main reason buying the PSP, to take time out after a hard days work and play on the PSP
I am still here if any one needs help on programming the PSP
To what it's worth, you have contributed "something promising" in the PSP community and I thank you for your effort. There are still a number of people not wishing to downgrade and/or not able to downgrade to 1.5 especially those who decided to stay on 2.0 since eloader makes it perfect to play homebrews and at the same time maintain the benefits of 2.0. Anyway, it's really a pleasure of meeting you here. I enjoyed using XChoice.Zitat:

Good Luck!
Choice X may still continue, I have been looking into making all the functions that I worked hard on to support SDL so cross platform can be done with the functions, so I could be developing for the PSP again, just in a diferant way and would mean users will have to test it on a real PSP and tell me if it dose work as one of the PSP issues was relyability.
If I don't continue Choice X this way then it will be released as open source for others to take over the project and add to it and it.
I am working on Choice for Flash at the moment for my own use to make selecting my favourite flash games easer.
I will also be hosting flash games that work well on PSP, most flash games are not very well written, some are ok, and with the PSP I can see better more well written flash games produced.
This ****ing sucks.
BTW linux and Iriver is the future.
Well I'm currently still PSPless but I expect to have my new chiped one by next week.
Also I had no internet for about two weeks since all I had access to was my laptop and a public wireless server... And wireless isn't in ubuntu after you install it (gpart in ubuntu fried my Windows partitions and I had to wait until I got home to fix it since I had some data I didn't want to lose...).
Exams are finally over! Time to catch up and relax :)
I'd love to see the new builds when I get it. SDL sounds great. And if it makes everything easier, the better!
I hope you ocntinue, i feel sorry for the eloader people without u
If the PSP was more relyable I wouldn't of left it, but like I pointed out they is SDL that could make development easer and will allow me to support other platforms including PSP without needing a PSP to test with.
I also but found the PSP analog stick very primitive and basic, it was not acurate, it felt like it was built with a RC not with a DAC Chip, and CPU speed ran down battery unless was underclocked, but totaly usless at that speed.
i have released the source code to many of the functions including the fonts part and be releasing source to Choice if I deside I don't have enougth time for this SDL stuff.
Also to any developers thinking of putting in a mouse, don't bother it dosn't realy work well the PSP and I found the d-pad to be the better way of doing things, sometimes a mouse is handy, but mostly the d-pad is the best to use and if you put in a mouse you need a d-pad option as well.
Be posting the mouse thread I used in choice for downloading soon for those developers that whant bothe, d-pad & mouse.
hey xart come on no everybody is downgrading to 1.5 like me i will not downgrade my psp cause if i can run homebrew in my fw2.5 why would i want to downgrade we need you man:(:( :( :( :( :(
-= Double Post =-
hey xart i'm going to be honet with you this thing are the things that makes me downgrade my psp cause people give up on thing you only think about the people that downgrade but what about the people that dont want to downgrade I know is not your falt but if you realy care about the things you are doing you will still finish things without givin up.:( :( :PC: :Argh:
I simply don't have the time any more to develope for the PSP, this platform takes far too much time to develope for.
http://www.xart.co.uk/downloads/v090.zip
Make a backup of your previous eboot.pbp file as I don't know if this one works as I don't now have a PSP myself to test with
all that has changed is i removed the options such as rename copy paste as this can be done with a dedicated app and so choice will just remain an desktop like organizer for homebrew
don't hope too much as I totaly developed this in the dark untill I get a similator working using SDL
hehe, it sounds very interesting
http://xart.co.uk/downloads/UCES00000.zip
hear is a blank eboot file, if you add any ~PSP file part from a offical sony eboot file it will work, only the ~PSP part is protected, I have worked out parts of this file but not all so if any one like to share any info they have on it it would help.
also if you run it as is it will get to the point of tuning off the psp, this was what some were calling a hack, it is not it just dose what it should because of a missing element
I just posting it just in case some are interesting in looking at it with 2.7+ PSP's
or customize the icon for a eboot file from sony
:Jump: my new white PSP with the UP just arrived! I'm PSPless no more! Love the Epsilon bios! Gone testing :D
no more bricked PSPs for you then, hope you have fun with it frmariam.
how much was it ??? can u upgrade to 2.8 and still keep 1.5...yeah i should just send him a PM :P
XMB replacment for 1.5
they are naming it 0x89
Somthink that I am looking into helping them with the GFX
http://forums.qj.net/psp-development-forum/60920-0x89-psp-xmb-replacement.html
Sounds promising! And I may test even the betas since now my PSP won't turn into a rather expensive paperweight :D That is if you guys release any or need some testing.
I was reading the thread and got the idea this would be like a 100% homebrew firmware! If so do you (I mean hte team) intend to use homebrew app to replace the ones in Sony's fw (like Links or the upcoming Eclipse for a web browser, PMPModAVC for the video viewer, homebrew music player, flash player...).
Will this be Epsilon Bios stile (which sort of "merges" with the official Sony fw) or anything like the shell we have seen for the PSP (PSIX, Artillery, PSPOSS, IrShell and even FileAssistant and Choice).
On an even more unChoice and off-topic :o, I found the other day this great looking shell for DevHook which I never heard of - the DevHook Shell Prototype Mod r20 made by TheBuzzer (which doesn't seem to work with the Epsilon bios... even if it did, it'd be kind of pointless). Found it in a site I can't mention here (found out when just posting the site name :p) but it's in the database of various PSP sites in the web.
Just like to say I am not helping them any more as I don't have time for the PSP these days
I did a slight update to Choice but heard nothink if it worked or not so I guess every one is using 1.50 or most all PSP users are.
Yeah I guess you're right about everyone being in 1.5... You were having time issues with Choice also... I just hope something good comes out of the 0x89 project!
I myself am in 2.71 (Epsilon style!). Is that new update on the site? I'll try it then :)
http://www.xart.co.uk/downloads/v090.zip
It has been on site for quite a while now, just tell me if it runs or not
I am using 2.80, and enjoying playing games on it, never regreted leaving 2.00 one bit.
1.5 and the secondary flash chip is a good thing for those who whant homebrew, but i my self am quite happy with 2.80
If any one dose find an exploit I may be tempted to come back to homebrew.
right thats what they all say, but deep inside they miss playing SMB and Street Fighter for free...yeah im trying to make you feel bad, is it working :P
I am just letting you all know that the xart website will no longer be hosting homebrew for the PSP, I am supporting Sony at this time to keep the PSP free of homebrew as a fight against piracy, homebrew on the PSP allows some very bad people use it to a means of putting downloaded pirate PSP games on there memory stick to play so I will not be supporting hosting homebrew on the site.
just take the eLoader, it was used to downgrade and allow pirate games onto the PSP again.
It had nothink to do with eLoader, they just used it to get there dirty games on the PSP and is why I am no longer supporting homebrew as it seems to lead to one thing in the end, piracy
We can only hope Sony adds User mode support for unsigned code in firmware 3.00, that is totaly no good to piracy but is good for genuin homebrew.
So ****ing what, People are ganna pirate things. So your just leaving and disregarding homebrew.:(Zitat:
Zitat von xart
I am not against homebrew, just that with homebrew the posibility of runing pirate games will allways be possible unless sony makes a firmware for running unsigned code in user mode so it will encourage homebrew writers to force users to use the latest firmware just like comercal games do.
That is what Sony should do, pirate games will not run in user mode
....... Is Select/ChoiceX dead... Its the ONLY reason i bought a chip and wasted 100$ on a chip i never got.Zitat:
Zitat von xart
No it is not dead yet, still hosted but just not listed on the site, you have to know its url to download it, the source code is still on the server as well
so what I mean by not hosting, is not putting it on the webpage, but still have some on the serer for downloading
just not pushing homebrew thats all.
Choice X will be come open source soon.
Yeah its dead...
Sony coud've taken (and still can) taken homebrew to another level, like micrsoft did what the live arcade and the revoulution will do with old school games, maybe if the PSP dies like Xchoice did they will stop future updates and we will be happy...
The only way I can see the PSP live on is user mode homebrew, with user not kernal homebrew, comercial games will be safe and only genuin homebrew will be produced.
but will sony give us that.
But a lot of good homebrew is in kernel mode such as SNES9x TYL ME, XFlash, PSPVBA, etc.
About the new tiff exploit that some developers are working on.
Choice X may be back at full speed if this new tiff exploit works on 2.80
if it works I can have flash web browser + homebrew, I found flash on the PSP very nice and have a lot of puzzle and board games on it as well as downloaded demos so homebrew will make me come back if this exploit gives kernal mode for better relyability for homebrew as 2.00 tiff was a bit hit and miss
so I am hanging onto the source code for the actual part of choice untill I see what happens
Choice X is still here, it is just no demand for it with users downgrading to 1.5
