I'm sorry but no. If you obtained it via your PS3 you wouldn't have any questions, so I'm assuming you got it by other means.

erm... no kidding, hence why I even asked the original question in the first place.
The only reason I'm trying to see if this works, I want to see how good PS1 plays on the PSP, as I don't have a random $600 to magically get a PS3, and good luck even getting a hold of one. But I will get one someday, and buy some PS1 games.

Also one little thing I'd like to say, you guys don't condone piracy, yet you release things that can run ISO's, etc. Then what's the sence in even releasing such programas then? Just makes more work for the mods, deleting countless posts on how to use these ISO loader, PS1 emulators, anything else to do with piracy, and gets the users of the site all pissed off at people for asking these questions. But really it's the sites own fault for promoting a devs work on their site(if it uses pirated things I mean), but giving restrictions to what can be discussed about it. The only thing the mods can do is ban you from the site so you can't go asking about programs that they even let on their site to begin with.
Now that I have said that, thanks for filling me in anyway, guess I'll have to wait till who knows when to pull an extra $600 out my ass.

Oh yea, so I can't even ask why nothing happens when I load it? lol

Are we allowed to tell how to rip our own PS1 games? I mean you can't rip it unless you have it to begin with...

(I don't know how to anyway -.-)

The piracy policy was recently updated. Basically, what is not allowed with PSP backups are applicable to PSX. Whether you own the game or not, we simply don't troubleshoot.

so if there is any question at all about the piracy of video games of any sort on this forum it will be locked, users banned, and that's that.

Got it.

Also, got the fact that this forum will be useless to 75% of the psp users out there... (random bs statistic) ... guess that this would be a good time to open up a forum all about PSPs and ISOs lol

I understand your policy and will follow it, however to what legallity do you rever? The law of the USA? Or because the server is hosted there? I ask this, because in the country where i live, it is legal to create such backup.
Could you please clarify a bit more?

They have to follow the laws of the USA because they're hosted there, yep.

Default Can the 3.0x OE versions run Euro ISOs?

I would think this would be okay, but have not tried it?

THanks.

Bump.

The deluge of ISO threads is going to result in instant bans without warnings from me, so post at your own risk. Please post appropriately and stop asking about PSP ISO's.

I can understand the need to regulate ISO talk but I don't understand closing threads for asking for support on homebrew applications. I created a post asking for help getting Fastloader v0.7 working on 3.03oe-a. It was closed because supposedly we're not allowed to post about ISO loaders. Obviously I do not need it for loading ISO's since 3.03oe-a already does that. If fastloader v0.7 is not supported on this site, where else can I go?

hey, I just wanted to ask a question about WHEN the policy was adopted that blocked ISO speak and all of that?

I have been with the scene since day one (close to it anyways) and I remember coming here at times when people didn't get banned for ISO talk and stuff. (at least I think it was here...)

I have no issue with the policy, in fact it is a godsend in my opinion. not because I care about piracy (I really don't care if anyone downloads stuff) but the policy cuts down on duplicate threads and what was basically an unintentional spamming of the forums.

thats all, just wondering when the change occurred.

The policy concerning game backups is nothing new and has always been in place here. This thread simply serves as a reminder and to hopefully reduce the amount of times we have to handle offending threads/users.

I don't understand why talking about ISOs and what not is bad. It's technically not illegal if you have the original games and stuff. If you put that in your policy you're good. It's really annoying when you can't get help or info on that when ISOs and ROMs are the main attraction for the PSP. I wish the ROMs section would open back up as long as no one posts links or anything. This place won't do anything politically incorrect. I've been going here since this site was on blogspot and the changes have disappointed me.

It doesn't matter if its "technically" not illegal.

its illegal here on these forums. Deal with it.

And nobody EVER has the original UMDs....

Do you think the staff would be able to tell who has the original games? No. So just suck it up. If you don't like it, go try posting on the official PSP forums about your "backed up games".

Well not all of us can afford to buy or rent games constantly sometimes that's the only option...most of the time I'll download a game then when I have the money I'll buy them. That's also how I save money so I don't buy crappy games. I also don't keep the back ups after I buy the game I delete it. I'm not b!tiching I'm just wondering that's all. This place isn't what it used to be.

I'm over in the rules section with an issue of a deleted thread probably deleted under this exact rule (topic's here http://forums.qj.net/f-qjnet-news-an...ml#post1451582)
This is a really loosely-defined rule. It's one thing to not condone piracy, but I happened to ask about a crash in a particular area of a game under a working emulator, just to see if anyone's found a workaround for it.
Question about where to get the game? Nope. Question about ripping it into an EBoot? No. Question about where to share it? No. (All of these to me would be piracy).
Question about how to use a homebrew function? Yes. I'm not asking how to do it, I've already done it. You guys going to get sued because I want to know if anyone else has had an issue with this? No.
This rule should either be iron clad (I.E. "No asking about the POPS emulator, nor any function/ability/program associated with it."), or should be reworked to allow for whatever IS actually allowed. For the record, I personally feel that a question about a game that's already running under it should NOT be restricted. An excellent sticky would actually be a guide, stating what games work, best controller config, minimum version of POPs required, etc. But if NO discussion of POPs is permitted here, then explicitly state that.
For your knowledge (law student kicking in here), technically 90% of the discussion here could be deemed illegal and as bad as piracy discussion. Altering intellectual property (as most stuff here does, be it running through the original 1.0 exploit, KXPloit, or the custom firmwares) is rated nearly as high as its theft. It's all bad in the eyes of the law. I don't condone any form of piracy, but the discussion of making things work is nothing major IMHO.
