[Guide] Devhook .51 Install, FAQ, and Help (12/5/06)

It won't work for me. It usually goes to that one blue screen that comes whenever you update your firmware, the one that tells you that your settings are corrupted. Then it restarts, or sometimes, just stays off. Whenever a new version of Devhook comes out, I try to install it, but nothing ever works for me. I followed ALL of the steps CAREFULLY. When I try to do steps 18-21, it gives errors like this:

Mkdir flash0:/dh/301/kd/resource:Err 80010002

and this:

Copy ms0:/dh/301/f0/kd/resource/big5_table.dat:create error

and this:

flash write protect

How do you do 51 and 46 at the same time? 3.01 works, but now 2.71 is crashing. Ive unistalled the 3.01 flash files, crash. Installed 2.71 flash, More crash. I use overclocking and all it does is crash in 3.01 when i star a game.

Ok I would like to file an official confirmation that HEN D DOES NOT WORK with the Devhook .51 at least

The reason has something to do with emulating 1.50

Whenever you emulate 1.50 Devhook .51 seems to act like Devhook .46 and spits you back to 1.50. It has nothing to do with HEN just 1.50 emulation

Those confirmations listed in the guide were made with the hex edited devhooks.

Even in the thread cited, I could not find a single instance of a HEN user confirming that it works.

I've have just used the most recent version of Devhook which allows co-existence with older versions.

Whenever you emulate 1.50 it will not allow you to boot the newer firmwares and just dumps you back into 1.50

Heck try it for yourself. Emulate 1.50 and attempt to load 3.01 or even 2.71.
It will just send you back.

Sorry for sounding so negative. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I can't help but feel that I'm not.

when i try go to flashrom and try to install flash 1 ...its says devhook isnt installed on ms0;dh/kd/ ..so wats wrong with this?

Dodswm, (from MAXCONSOLE) said that this was allowed to emulate 1.5 successfully then be able to emulate 3.01

For some odd reason, when you emulate 1.50 and attempt to load a firmware using Devhook .51, it just sends you back to 1.50

And it doesn't matter what motherboard/firmware you do it on either. Emulate 1.50 in any firmware and the behaviour is the same.

Hopefully someone will prove me wrong

Okay, I followed Man007's advice and went to PSP-Hacks and checked out that tutorial. It was SOOOOOO EASY and I had 3.01 running on my PSP 15 minutes. Must have been on PSP Updates for 5 hours following this tutorial and trying to get it to work.

Anyone having problems installing, you might want to check that out. You'll save a ton of time.

I get an Error when I scan for an internet connection...other than that its perfect.

Probably since its still beta, and a few bugs in it which will cause wireless internet scanning and stuff to have Errors.

But in the long run itll get fixed hopefully.

anyone have problems with iso loading and movies loading.

I tried the "thing" I found there, and I still had the same problem as before. The PSP screen goes black and it shuts off about 10 seconds after choosing start in the devhook menu.

been trying for about an hour and its driving me insane :( when i get up to flash install and try to install config file, it returns this

Directory flash1:/dh/301 : not found

make dummy file flash1:/dh/dummy.dat:OK
Directory ms0:/dh/301/f1 : not found
remove flash1:/dh/dummy.dat
Pres any button to return

after that i select firmware 3.01 and choose UMD, and every time it boots up into setting information is corrupted :( ive gone through the procedure about 7 or 8 times without skipping any points following word for word. anyone got any ideas?

reformat your mem stick
it is corrupted.

right i have a small problem ive got two psps one english and ones jap they both work great with this but my jap ones devhook has turned back the o to x buttons is there a way to change it back. i figure this is the sigchecks fault??

this does nothing to your flash unless you choose to yes you can what fw you running

this is the menu i get from devhook when about to flash (ac adapter plugged in)

flash0: and flash1: can install an only one firmware version.
If tgere us annother version already, remove before install.
This operation write flash1: device

i'm on 1.5 and i didn't have to flash anything using devhook.

Just made the firmware dumps, put them in the folder and ran them.

he needs to create the f1 folder

Did you re-format your memory stick before doing it?

In Devhook, did you do the "uninstall DH files for flash1:" option *before* installing configfile to flash 1?

That's what I did and it worked great for me (on a 1.5 PSP with no custom firmware or any crap like that). WiFi works smooth too.

I just saw to reformat, so I just did that, I had done the other stuff before though. Hopefully it will work now...

im runnin 1.5, i used an ultimate installer from a diffrent site, it did most stuff for me, but i did have to go into the "flash ROM" section and choose the flash1: < ms0: install configfiles, so does that mean i wrote to my flash? And i have run into a problem, my browser wont work, i have the default font, i have installed other fonts b4 but i changed it back, is there a way to fix this

does anyone understand where i am coming from i followed the setup step for step

well the flash rom things did flash to your flash but you can still install a custom firmware and the browser im not to sure about

this is during step 19, i go to flash install press circle press circle to "install configfile to flash1" then i get all the stuff up above, I AM WONDERING IF THIS IS WHAT EVERYONE ELSE GETS, IF NO TELL ME

dont wanna search through sixty pages for this but my problem is that whenever i start devhook again after i exit all the settings are reset, it doesnt blue screen it jsut acts as if im just starting to setup the psp. Very annoying prob

Well .51 is a huge plus over .5 since it works and works great. So far, everything is very smooth(havent tried the browser though).

flash 1 maybe corrupt

UMD booting doesn't work for me... It freezes at gameboot.

Any help? I am very desperate!

I was happy with my Devhook 0.46. And have some reservations about going 0.50. But now with this and FW 3.01, man i'm gonna read some more to get the feel on how to do it correctly. Thx for all the people involved for making this a reality. Your the man booster. Thanx a lot.

Okay...here's what I did to get it to work on 1.50

1. Copied the files that were given with .51 onto the memory stick into their respective places.
2. In x:\dh\301\f1, create a new folder and name it dh
1. Extracted the DATA.PSAR from 3.01.
2. Copied DATA.PSAR to root of memory
3. Install PSARDump into GAME/GAME150
4. Open PSARDUmp and dump DATA.PSAR by pressing X (or dump sig and reboot.bin)
5. Back into USB MODE
6. Copy the F0 folder in the root into x:\dh\301
7. Open Devhook on the PSP
8. Scroll down to flash install
9. Choose "uninstall DH files from flash1"
10. Choose "install configfile to flash1"
11. Start Devhook

That's all I basically did. No need to do any of the x-flash stuff, replacing the audio.prx, etc. Everything works. Internet, Visualplayer for mp3's, enable flash and wma, UMD/ISO/DEMO works...not sure about overclock...but the basics work.

edit: oh and I rebooting back to 1.50 works too using the DEVHOOK menu.
