gpSP 0.9 : cheat

I downloaded gpSP 0.9, and I saw there is 'cheat options', so I suppose that it is GameShark codes. But how to use it ? I didn't find anything to add and activate them.

Currently, gpSP supports some functionality of Gameshark/Pro Action Replay
cheat codes. To use these, you must first make a file with the same name
as the ROM you want the cheat code to apply to, but with the extension .cht.

To write a code, write the type of model it is, gameshark_v1, gameshark_v3,
PAR_v1, or PAR_v3. gameshark_v1/PAR_v1 and gameshark_v3/PAR_v3 respectively
are interchangeable, but v1 and v3 are not! So if you don't know which
version it is, try both to see if it'll work.

Then, after that, put a space and put the name you'd like to give the cheat.

On the next several lines, put each cheat code pair, which should look like
this:

AAAAAAAA BBBBBBBB

Then put a blank line when you're done with that code, and start a new code
immediately after it. Here's an example of what a cheat file should look
like:

After you have written the .cht file, you have to enable the cheats
individually in the game menu. Go to the Cheats/Misc menu, and you will
see the cheats; turn them on here. You may turn them on and off as you
please, but note that some cheats may still hold after you turn them off,
due to the nature of the system. Restart to completely get rid of them.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

This is still very work in progress! I basically added this in only 1.5
or so hours, and I don't have a lot of time right now to work on it
before releasing. So I'll probably improve it later.

Not all of gameshark's features are supported, especially for v3. Only
basic cheats will work, more or less.

Cheats may be unstable and may crash your game. If you're having problems
turn the cheats off.

Really, there's no guarantee that ANY cheats will work; I tried a few and
some seem to work, others are questionable. Try for yourself, but don't
expect anything to actually work right now. Do expect this feature to
improve in future versions.

I am also having problems with getting cheats to work. So I have myself a game on it, I make a txt file named the name of my game with .cht at the end.
It still does NOT work. Dunno why. Heres what I have:

Thats what I have, and when I boot, go to the cheat menu, it says I have no cheats loaded. Any suggestions?

I have that problem too .. I used a ffta cheat but it doesnt say =( .. maybe ******** can include some cheats for some games for his next release.

Try using action replay codes. The gameshark codes don't work well for me, at least the ones from their official site.

First, look for your game codes here:

Then make a cht file as directed in the readme with PAR_v3.

To use Final Fantasy Tactics as an example, this is what the site lists for the M (enable) code:

Notice the reformatting of the code lines. This method has worked well so far for me.

But I have still two questions :

- for the name of the file with the cheats, I must write "name_of_the_ROM.gba. cht" or "name_of_the_rom.cht" ?

- what is the difference between GameShark v1 and GameShark v3; and between Pro Action Replay v1 and Pro Action Replay v3 ? And how to identify them ?

Just "name_of_the_rom.cht" Don't include the .gba suffix.


I assume the difference between v1 and v3 of both is just different ways of handling the cheat codes per algorithm. And as far as I know, there is no way of identifying them.

Begin by using v3 in the cht file, then if that will not work, try using v1 to see if it will solve anything.
