PSP 3000 sounds like some super computer out of South Park.
I've lost faith in the current handheld systems - leaving both my PSP and NDSL to collect dust. I can pirate on both systems - but do I - no, as a gamer I've lost interest in the portable scene as the AAA titles have already come and gone (all of which I proudly supported).
Why the PSP is still able to sell units is beyond me, but one thing I've noticed is that Sony's trying to implement it in more with the PS3 experience and that's great...but for those that don't have a PS3 (like myself) the experience/features that is gained there are not felt. I want a portable device that is at its peak (feature-wise) without having to go out and buy yet another console.
God of War and FFVII have brought up the hardware sales for the PSP with their respective bundles out on the market - however the main part of where the PSP is struggling is in software sales. A system can succeed all it wants in hardware sales but if it doesn't succeed on the software end it doesn't succeed in my eyes. Piracy is an issue, however there's still a ton of people out there that no nothing about it nor have the means to do so.
PSP Hardware Sales = good (very good as a matter of fact)
PSP Software Sales = poor (very poor, can be attributed to piracy)
The PSP itself as hardware has been very successful, so you think software would be as well...not quite
@Nevada - Skype is a gimmick, I doubt many people use it nor plan to use it on a daily (or even weekly basis). I hope they do more with the Mic or improve online gaming for the PSP (games other than Syphon and Socom)
Do you know who I am?
Why is everyone (well most people) being anti sony today/tonight/morning (depending which time zone your in)
i know that i'm getting the 3000 cos i couldn't be bothered with the 2000 it just looked slimmer which of cause sony always release a slimmer modal of every one of their game console. The only appealing feature of it was the display out which i want every since i got my first psp (now i'm just sounding old ).
And another thing, this i think is HUGE is the fact that no one attacks sony for releasing ps3s with bigger hdd drive etc. and they haven't got any major nor even minor changes have they?!
Well thats my 2 cents (whatever that is in british sterling)

If I cant hack it, im not getting it
How about a new psp all together instead of adding on stuff to old ****.
well he did say "how about a new psp altogether" didn't he
so really it wouldn't be a psp
The only reason they decided to release the 3000 is because they want to disguise the new motherboard.
Bottom line, it looks pretty stream-lined, but if its not hackable, and those are the only new features, then good luck in selling one to me.
lol i can't say d*ck?
Like a previous poster said, if I can't hack it, then I won't buy it. Not sure if I would anyway, since 3 revisions on one console is a little much. Most likely, the reason to make a PSP 3000 was to prevent anyone from hacking it. I suppose this is sony's plan to prevent piracy, as they said a while back.
And one of the pictures of the PSP 3000 was fake because the PS button was round.

I'm thinking of upgrading to this, but there's no real reason to yet... unless the screen is that much clearer. I also want some hacksauce on it.
Built-in microphone still isn't catching enough for me to get one. Maybe if it's same price as the PSP-2000, I'll grab this one just for the heck of it.
You guys are not thinking about hardware updates. Maybe 96MB of RAM. You never know :P
And as the guy two posts ahead of me said, this is probably just a Sony step of preventing piracy. Few months from now, PSP-4000 will come out (not starting a rumor, it's not even real.) So, if you're planning on not buying your games (I buy all my games, for real.) then too bad for you.

Why is it that the doctors call what they do "practice"?
PSN: x-riitoric / rv-ersed
So basically if you want the latest hardware, you have to pay for your software, too.
Theres no sense in complaining about sony releasing a third version, and citing poor software sales as a reason against it, when the point of the third version is to reduce piracy and increase said sales.
As for the major update?, all other elements are overshadowed compared to the new screen.
As a general rule of thumb, ghosting is near-unnoticable at 20ms response, the psp/slim uses 60ms, which is very noticable.
12ms is low enough for an avid gamer (pc, big bright high resolution monitor), to play happily and not notice any ghosting at all, which means the same will be true for the psp3000's screen, add with that the anti glare and you have yourself a reason on it's own to switch, or for those who haven't yet bought a psp, there will not have been any better time than the psp3000's release.
I'll be buying it. The antiglare screen is reason enough alone.

Any word if this will lead to a price drop on the psp slims...I hope they be in the mid 100 range...
Btw Adiuvo do you really own that many umd so that it worth playing....
If you remember me xbl me mfmseth
The new screen is a good enough reason alone to get this.
Let's face it, I'll buy one.
[I fail @ life]
ill buy it when its hackable. And surprisingly enough I have the money for it, Im just not sold tho, I do need to replace my slim as its getting overused and its getting pretty beatup.
I still have a phat, and as ram usage is hell at times, I think I would probably be good getting a slim/this new one. If I do buy one(slim), I'll make sure that the new one isn't any better spec wise, and it'll be used.
PSP 3000? wtf? why did they use some big ass number? am in 1982?
I'll pass until it is as easily hacked as the current models. If it requires hard modding (mod-chip), I will also pass. I enjoy the ease of switching firmwares on the models I own...easy backup and restore...and they work great. I have no issues with the screens...the very minimal ghosting does not bother me at all.
If the 3000 uses the same firmware updates, there is a definite chance that there will be a software exploit. And if any devs have found exploits that they have held back on releasing, we may see the 3000 hacked quicker than expected.
I remember reading somewhere that exploits have been found on current firmwares but are not going to be released just so Sony can patch them.
So I'm guessing this gets released then exploits are also released and Sony gets raped in game sales some more while hardware sales skyrocket.
